5. From Bolzano: The Heart of the Dolomites Private Tour by Car

Enjoy a 8-hour tour that takes you on a 280km route through the breathtaking Dolomites mountain range, one of the world’s most stunning and unique alpine regions. Depart from Bolzano, the Gateway to the Dolomites and capital of South Tyrol. You’ll head north through the Isarco Valley and then east along the Pusteria Valley, up to the famous Braies Lake. Enjoy a 30-minute stop to take in the beauty of the area. Next you’ll stop at Misurina Lake, with its backdrop of 3 Peaks of Lavaredo. The lake, with the 3 Peaks to the north and the Sorapiss to the north, and the Sorapiss to the south, is the best-known image of the Dolomites. Enjoy lunch at a historic restaurant/pizzeria, accompanied by a spectacular lake view. After lunch your drive continues to Cortina d ’Ampezzo, known as the Queen of the Dolomites. Italy’s premier mountain resort is exclusively positioned in the breathtaking mountains and is a symbol of style, fashion and the Italian way of life. From Cortina d’Ampezzo, you’ll begin the 3-hour drive back to Bolzano on the famous Great Dolomites Road.

This tour can be customized to your preferences. The tour is offered in either German or English. We will rely on public transportation for the majority of the tour, if you are staying in a hotel you will most likely get a "guest card" which let's you travel with all public transport services for free (including the mountain railway). If you do not have any kind of ticket, feel free to contact me and I will help you get the ticket(s) you need. The tour has two main parts: (1) City Tour Bolzano: You have the option to either provide me with sights and places you would like to see and I will create a personalized tour with that OR you can leave the planning of the entire tour to me. (2) Panoramic View Soprabolzano: Planned is a 12 min mountain railway ride from Bolzano to Soprabolzano where you get to see the impressive Dolomites mountain range. Afterwards there will be a short (or long, depending on your preferences) walk trough the country side which ends at a small rest area where you can eat and drink stuff you brought with yourself while enjoying the panoramic view of the dolomites. You have the option to add a wine tasting of some local wine (+20€)

7. Bolzano: Best of the Dolomites in One Day Private Tour

Following a pickup from your hotel, you’ll head first to Bolzano, gateway to the Dolomites and capital of the province South Tyrol. Cross the Eggental valley that runs eastward between the Rosengarten massif and the Latemar mountain range. This road was built in 1894 when the territory was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Stop at Lake Carezza, the most beautiful lake of the western Dolomites, for a 30-minute break and walk around the lake. Next, arrive at Karerpass where you’ll see the historical Residence Grand Hotel Carezza, built in 1893, this was the first luxury hotel in the Dolomites and has hosted very important guests including the Empress Sissi, Winston Churchill, and Agatha Christie. From the Karerpass you’ll reach the Fassa Valley in Trentino and pass through the towns of Vigo di Fassa and Canazei to arrive under the imposing peaks of the Sella group. From here, begin a long series of 27 hairpin bends that will lead you to the famous Pordoi Pass at an altitude of 2,239m above sea level. Enjoy a one-hour break or take the cable car to Sass Pordoi at an altitude of 2,950m. From the Pordoi Pass, go down to the village of Arabba and continue east to the Falzarego Pass, the gateway to the eastern Dolomites. You’ll reach Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy’s premier mountain resort known as the Pearl of the Dolomites where the Winter Olympic Games were hosted in 1956. Cortina, together with Milan, will once again host the Winter Olympics in 2026. From Cortina, the next stop will be Lake Misurina with its incredible panoramic view of Three Peaks of Lavaredo. The lake, with its view of the peaks to the north and Sorapis to the south, is the most famous image of the Dolomites in the world. Just 20 minutes from Lake Misurina you’ll have the opportunity for a brief stop at another important lake in the Eastern Dolomites, Lake Dobbiaco. From Dobbiaco, you’ll reach the extreme northeast of Italy just a few kilometers from the border with Austria for the great finale of the day: a visit to the famous Lake Braies. From here, you’ll return to Bolzano via the Pusteria and the Isarco valleys.
