Full description
Book at least 5 days in advance to get the best price. Experience history at Auschwitz-Birkenau and learn about the inhuman conditions of life during the Second World War from your guide on a walking tour. Visit the Wieliczka salt mine to see its incredible salt sculptures. Sit back and take in the Polish landscape as you drive out of Kraków to Auschwitz-Birkenau for your day of history. Auschwitz-Birkenau is the largest death camp in human history, the site of mass destruction and genocide in Europe during World War II. Learn how the camp built by the Nazis in 1940 in the suburbs of Oswiecim became the place of deaths and executions of an estimated over 1 million people of 28 nationalities. Almost 90% of them were Europeans of Jewish origin. As you walk through the former concentration camp, feel the deep impression it imprints on you, partly because it allows you to imagine the scale of the Holocaust. Since 1979, this site has been on the UNESCO Cultural and Natural World Heritage list. Visit the Wieliczka salt mine, one of the most treasured monuments in Polish cultural history. Over a million tourists visit the salt mine yearly to see its exquisite carvings and reliefs. This unique place, listed on the UNESCO Cultural and Natural World Heritage List since 1978, placing it even higher on tourists' "to-do list". See the work of miners, who left dozens of sculptures and bas-reliefs cut out of the salt, keeping their work alive for decades.

It was a tiring day but we’ll worth the cost. Lots of walking and so much information. Our driver was also excellent and even had an umbrella to lend for our rainy day. The Auschwitz tour guide Marek was sensitive and respectful. He was so calm and easy to understand. The salt mine blew me away! Highly recommend. You might want to separate the two tours as quite a lot of walking and also a lot of information. And given Auschwitz and it’s history, quite an emotional day too.

An amazing experience. Sobering but worth every penny. We started with the Salt Mines and then went to Auschwitz, which was better than the reverse, as it allowed us to reflect a bit more on what we’d seen on the way home, rather than trying to enjoy the mines whilst taking in what we had seen in the Death Camp. Guides were excellent and transport was easy, hard to describe something like this as enjoyable, due to the nature of what is at Auschwitz. However, the experience was unforgettable and eye-opening, which is exactly as it should be.

What an amazing trip to go on , my tips are wear comfortable shoes as there is so much walking, take a packed lunch as we didn’t get time to eat and we were on the go for 11 hours. There are vending machines at the places so you can get cold drinks as it was so hot and your out in the open for a long time ,
