The guide was friendly and he certainly took us into to the red light district area and then some. We were taken into a coffee shop quickly (may have been longer had any of the group partaken in a cookie), a sex toy shop and a peep show establishment. A few of the party paid €2 to view a basic peep show (which stopped when the dancer got naked we were told later). We ended the tour in a pub where the guide ordered beers for everyone and provided a bag of nuts and crisps. The guide left 10-15 minutes early and we were left to pay for the beers. It wasn't a problem paying but it was all a bit strange when the guide absconded for his appointment.

Guide Maurice was very interesting. Pointed out facts of this fascinating city. Stopped at a sex toy shop and coffee shop where you could buy anything. Told us about legitimate coffee shops, how not to get ripped off. Explained how this all came to be. Explained and walked the different streets of the different groups of prostitutes. Felt very safe with him, not knowing how it all worked. Great intro if you’re not sure.

Booked this trip on arrival in Amsterdam for our first evening. The trip was an an excellent introduction to the area. Our guide was very informative both about Amsterdam as a city and the red light district as an area. We walked around the red light district (also now has a blue lights too - newly learned!). We were a small group which was a bonus as the area was very busy and trying to stay together as a group was a challenge. Be prepared for lots of people, the smell of cannabis mixed with all types of food. The shops windows are fascinating too - especially the one with the condoms.
