This was my first visit to the Rijks Museum. The style of painting practiced by the “old Dutch Masters” has always appealed to me, though I know very little about the artists and most of their body of work. This private tour expanded my horizons vastly! Within our two-hour time frame, Anna showed me the best of what the Rijks has to offer, and allowed me a moment to snap a photo of each painting she selected to show me and discuss. She was very pleasant and understanding. She had e-mailed (or texted?) me the day before our appointment, as well as the morning of our meeting. She was punctual, at both the beginning and end. My only suggestion was that wearing some kind of identification would’ve expedited recognition of one another as we waited just outside the Museum entrance. I suspected it was she, as I paced back and forth, and then, as I approached her, she spoke up and asked if I were Roberta. I had a wonderful time during my 2-hour visit with Anna, and hope to return.

Anna was very competent and while going through different paintings she was explainig the historical frame in which they were made. She helped noticing all details that communicated the status of the commissioner of the paintings and the type of life people were living, the symbolism of presence of animals in portraits or the caducity of the beauty of flowers and fruit in still life representation. Well worth it for me
