Later, walk the scenic trail of the Paiva Walkways, have lunch at a local restaurant, and visit the town of Arouca. The Arouca 516 Footbridge spans 516 m (1,692 ft) across the valley and hangs 175 m (576 ft) above the Paiva River. The walking deck is made of a see-through, open-grid metal mesh, guaranteed to add a kick of adrenaline to your experience.

Nearby, the Paiva Walkways offer one of the most beautiful walking trails in the world and are a World Travel Awards winner. It is an 8 km boardwalk zigzagging down along the left bank of Paiva River at Arouca UNESCO Global Geopark. In between your trip, stop for lunch in a typical Portuguese restaurant with panoramic views. Meat, fish, and vegetarian options will be available. The day trip was great! The transfer to Arouca as well as the hike itself worked without any problems and could also be arranged flexibly. In other words, if you want to skip the bridge or don't want to hike any further after the halfway point. The food in the restaurant was also very tasty and there would also have been a vegetarian alternative. Luis, the guide for our day, accompanied us wonderfully and gave us a lot of historical and geographical information! I can only recommend this day trip!

It was one of my favorite trips to Portugal! Ricardo, the guide, is a very good guy, he explained many things to us and is constantly worried that everything was to our liking. Crossing the bridge was by far the most beautiful and adrenaline-pumping thing I have done in my life. The typical meat lunch was very good. We were only 8 people so everything worked out perfectly. If I ever return there, I would repeat the trip. Highly recommended

Arouca 516 was on my bucket list for the sheer fact it was a crazy challenge out of my usual box. In photos, the structure looked beautiful and strong. But how to get there? Look no further than Norberto with Ennetours (getyourguide). His tour is fantastic! Every detail is coordinated - from meetup, to transport, intro to Arouca plus amazing lunch! Norberto is enthusiastic and caring that you are comfortable and having a great experience.
