Sophie was amazing.. She is a warm, kind and gracious tour guide. I had the best time ever on her walking food tour. It is by far the best and most interesting foods that I have tasted in Athens. I’m am so grateful that I was exposed to a more local.. style tour that perfectly highlighted the modern Greek culture. I highly recommend that everyone take this tour. It was an unforgettable experience for me.

When we arrived to meet our guide, I was a little dubious about the location. As with much of Athens, many of the buildings were dilapidated and most were covered in graffiti. This was a little more ‘street’ than I had anticipated! However, as soon as we met our guide, any reservations disappeared. She was so proud of her city and encouraged us to see the beauty in the graffiti and to celebrate the freedom of expression. Her knowledge of the area was excellent and we stopped just enough times to hear little bits of information about various buildings. Our first food stop was for traditional pies. We stopped at a local bakery and were given a very warm welcome along with cheese pies, spinach pies and cinnamon custard pies, all of which were delicious. We were a little uncertain as to how much to pace ourselves as we were not sure what else was to come. I would say portions were perfect. We had several stops for cheese m, wine, souvlaki and amazing salads. It was thoroughly enjoyable.

We are in Athens for 8 days. The first two days we lost ourselves in the very touristic areas with all their ups and downs. On day 3 of our stay, we went on the food tour and met our guide, Christiana. She answered all our questions with so much enthusiasm, and patience, and was very friendly, kind, and helpful. She is very knowledgeable in social, cultural, historical, architectural, art, and musical topics. She gave us so many insights and showed us areas we would never have found on our own. She also gave us many good tips for activities and places for the rest of our stay. All locations she showed us on the tour were super nice and the food Christina showed us was extraordinarily delicious (best souflaki ever!). We warmly recommend Christiana and the tour without any hesitation. The tour ended with great local live music and great greek hospitality. We stayed there much longer this evening. The tour was our highlight so far on this trip. Thanks again, Christi! Cheers Helena & Sören
