Full description

Visit sites that date back to 1350 at the Ayutthaya Historical Park. Learn about Buddhist history, architecture, and religion as you explore countless temples with your experienced tour guide. In the 18th century, much of Ayutthaya was destroyed by Burmese invaders; witness the structures in their various states of disrepair. Tree roots growing around scattered Buddha heads only adds to the historical charm of this unique destination. After departing from Bangkok bright and early, see Bang Pa-In Royal Palace en route to Ayutthaya. Used as a summer residence for ancient Thai kings, the golden pagodas and serene pools make for a great introduction to the region’s glorious past. After arriving in Ayutthaya, take several hours to explore fascinating ancient religious sites including Wat Mahathat, where a decapitated Buddha head sits nestled between ancient tree roots. Continue to Wat Mongkol Borpit, known for its enormous seated Buddha statue. Discover Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, the most holy and important complex of the ancient Thai capital. Finally, explore Wat Chaiwatthanaram, known for its towering stone chedis. This site is one of the main reasons Ayutthaya was awarded UNESCO status in 1991.

This was an incredible tour! Thanks to the masterful storyteller, our guide TicTac, we learnt such rich details of Thailand's history, especially Ayuthayya's. He awed us with fascinating facts, left us in splits with his charming humor and gave us many an occasion to smile and reflect on the beauty of Thai culture, its people, and their way of life. Khob khun krap, as TicTac taught us to say, for such a memorable trip! And special thanks to Sam, our driver, as well for taking us around safely and joining the fun!

This was my favourite experience in all of Thailand because of the history, architecture and natural environment (seeming). The people on the trip were also cool to be around. The guide really knew her history and was generous with her time, explanations, details, and attention brought to the participants. The scenery was fabulous and the weather on that day matched the activity perfectly. Anyone going to Bangkok MUST book this touristic activity for many reasons including the above.

We did this guided tour the first thing arriving in Thailand. Highly recommend to all to see the historical aspects of this great country. Our tour guide, Coco was extremely helpful from the beginning and fun to be with. She treated us with respect and also was very funny. Highly recommended!
