Full description
Discover Barcelona through the architecture of Antoni Gaudí and his Modernisme contemporaries on a 3-hour walking tour of the incredible buildings and monuments that pay testament to his distinctive genius and the spirit of a generation. The 19th-century Catalan renaissance saw the cultural rebirth of a nation that reached its peak with the Modernisme movement. Gaudí and his colleagues took the spirit of the times and mixed modern techniques with traditional craftsmanship to enrich Barcelona. Ever since, millions have enjoyed the city’s architectural heritage and this walking tour explores the L’Eixample district, where the best examples can be easily discovered on foot, eventually leading to the unfinished masterpiece of Sagrada Familía. Here, you will learn about this essential bridge between the historic highlights of Catalan culture; the medieval merchant city and the 19th-century industrial metropolis. It combines tremendous views over the city Gaudí loved, with fascinating insights into his creative mind. The tour is much more than a series of photo opportunities. You will dig deep into the roots of the movement, and look at the social unrest and political issues of the era. The result is an unforgettable portrait of one of the world’s greatest cities and a tribute to some of its most talented designers.

Paola, my guide, was great. She packed a lot of Information in interesting stories so that it was easier to listen and to follow. She created a desire inside of me to learn more about the modernism and Gaudi. That is in my opinion the best compliment for a guide.

Good your, great value!

I was a little wary to be in such a large group (17) and to have a guide with no formal architectural training but Erik knocked it out of the park. He kept the group together and was very well informed. He was personable which also made the tour more fun. Even having been to most of the stops on the tour before, I learned something new about each. Check in was a little less impressive. Getting there fifteen minutes early, as requested, meant many of us were left waiting for the stragglers for twenty minutes.

Patrick was excellent!

The tour was excellent. Patrick did a great job at keeping my interest & enthusiasm. A couple things to note is the walk is fast paced although there are opportunities for those to catch up. Also there is a metro ride which requires money spent on tickets during the walk.
