Begin the excursion with pickup at the hotel at 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM depending on where you are on the island. You will then head to the sacred lake of Grand Bassin, the most important place of worship for Mauritian Hindus and make a short drive to the Black River Gorges and stop at the Black River View Point, to see the island’s endemic flora and fauna. Visit La Rhumerie de Chamarel to learn about the various stages involved in making the local rum, before tasting the end product! A delicious gourmet lunch will then be served in a local restaurant. After lunch, the drive continues to Chamarel Village to admire the 90-meter high Chamarel Waterfall and the curious 7-Coloured Earth, a natural phenomenon caused when basaltic lava converts the clay mineral into vibrant shades of red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple, and yellow. Take a winding drive to the southwest corner of Mauritius, and enjoy the drive through Macondé Bridge for panoramic views across the Baie Du Cap River.

Visit the Original 7 Coloured Earth in Chamarel and drink in the lunar-like spectacle of red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple, and yellow sand dunes set in the middle of lush green vegetation, with the Black River mountain range in the background. On your way to 7 Coloured Earth, you can also admire the majestic Chamarel Waterfall, the tallest single-drop waterfall in Mauritius at about 100 metres high. You can also wander to the tortoise park to see the six tortoises called Toto, Tizean, Rosette, Nini, Tizom and Tifam up close — a great activity for the family. Originally from Aldabra in Seychelles, the species can reach up to 1 meter in length with an average lifespan of more than 150 years. During your visit to the Geopark, you can also stop for a snack or lunch at the Coffee Shop. There you'll find themed products such as the Seven-Coloured Macaroons or Gourmet Popsicles. The Coffee Shop also serves Chamarel Coffee; the only locally grown and roasted coffee in Mauritius. Its taste is unique... maybe because it is grown on volcanic soil.

A 4WD vehicle will take you from the designated meeting point through a private estate in which RESA deer, wild pigs, and numerous bird species including pheasant, quail, and guinea-foul reside. Begin the hike and traverse along the North-Western base of the mountain, allowing for two panoramic perspectives of the mountain to be appreciated of the North Western and South Eastern flanks. The initial hike follows an undulating path that is designed to warm up your muscles and elevate your heart-rate before the scrambling and climbing sections begin. At 340 meters above sea level, you will have a safety and mountain security briefing prior to the first of the four scrambling and climbing sections. There is a 70-meter, 25-meter, 15-meter, and 10-meter section. They provide the most spectacular views of the lush mountain ranges of Chamarel as well as stunningly beautiful lagoon views of both the North-Western and South-Eastern coasts that extend in front of you to the horizon. Various rest points provide a unique opportunity for the team to take memorable photographs of you and your family so that the once-in-a-lifetime experience can never be forgotten. Arrive at the summit of the V with a just reward for all of your efforts and hard work as the views are well worth it. The team will provide you with additional information, whilst taking photographs and allowing you the opportunity to have a break and appreciate the location and its amazing surroundings. The descent down the mountain will begin under the watchful eye of the highly experienced and professional team. Return to the meeting point and then depart to your accommodation.

Go dolphin watching off the coast of Mauritius on this guided kayak tour. Paddle into Tamarin Bay and get the chance to see bottlenose and spinner dolphins in their natural habitat. Meet at the activity provider's office in the morning to get started. Learn about the basics of kayaking from your guide before you set off. Admire the sunrise over Tamarin beach as you paddle out into the bay. Dolphins spend the night in the bay, so the morning is the best time to catch a glimpse of them. Spend two hours kayaking around the bay. If you spot dolphins, follow the instructions of your guide to observe these animals in a respectful way. There is a chance that you won't see any dolphins. If this happens, enjoy an alternative route exploring the Tamarin River and its rich wildlife.

If you are considering going on this guided climb I definitely recommend getting Bryn as your guide - he made sure everyone felt safe and made useful instructions on how to climb some of the tricky parts of the mountain. Besides that he made sure to take amazing photos and videos of everyone! Definitely a 10/10 experience from us.
