Full description

Just 45 minutes north of Ljubljana, there lies the magical Alpine resort, Bled with its magical lake. Ascend the old castle, perched on top of a steep cliff above the lake, and take some time to enjoy spectacular views of the surroundings from the castle's terraces.

A boat ride on a ‘Pletna’ – a traditional boat made by locals – is mandatory when visiting Bled. Reach the only true island in Slovenia, ring the fortune bell, and soak up the sun, peace, and fresh mountain air. Then it's time to head south to discover the mysteries of the Slovenian karst in the Postojna cave. The guided tour of the cave takes you on a ride by electrical train and a walk through the beautiful passages and chambers with spectacular drop stones, pillars, limestone curtains, and other extraordinary wonders of the underground world.

Afterward, enjoy tasting some local spirits in Postojna. Then, continue to the idyllic village of Predjama to enjoy the medieval fairytale of the amazing Predjama castle, the largest cave castle with its dramatic setting in the gaping mouth of a cavern halfway up a hillside.

Learn about the legend of a famous knight, Erasmus – the ‘Slovenian Robin Hood’ and other local folk traditions before heading back to Ljubljana.

Smoothly run, right on time! Good itinerary. What I did not like-the tour is combined so we had to drop off people who wanted only the morning part; go BACK to pick up new people who wanted the afternoon. We purchased a full day tour and nowhere do they say that it’s also their half day tours. This was very frustrating. The cost is quite high since you pay every entry ticket-12 for castle, 15 for boat, 12 for church, 35 for caves, etc. plus 100 for the drive! I’ve almost never paid so much for a local tour unless I go private. This got 4 stars only because we had such a GREAT guide, Jon, who was excellent-funny, informative, great communication. Elections had just occurred and he explained them to us. He did all he could to bring value to the tour and I learned so much about this country through him.

Very nice visit to 3 destinations. The tour guide was friendly and informative. However, the guide discussed politics and issues which were not appropriate or professional. Stick to cultural and historic information. The van was full to capacity, and the front seat was too small for driver and 2 passengers. The guide was a great driver, and bypassed traffic jams.

Roundabout Travel's Guide Jan Provided a Memorable Lake Bed Tour

Roundabout Travel offers the only tour of Lake Bred that I could find that also included Postojna Cave, and Predjama Castle. All three sites are breathtakingly beautiful. Jan, our Guide, was very informative and helpful. He changed the order of activities so that we could visit the island in Lake Bleed before other tour groups arrived. When I asked about Tito's former summer home, he offered to show it to me while the other 7 members of tour went to lunch. When he asked if anyone else wanted to go see those site, all of them accepted even though it meant shortening their lunch break, as well as his rest time. When we returned to Ljubljana, he took a family to the train station to help them fix a problem with their tickets even though it was a long day, he was working overtime, and he had nothing to do with the problem. It was a great tour and Jan was a wonderful guide. On the way home, he went with
