Full description

Get to know the classic fruity and high tannin wines of Bordeaux on this half-day tour. Learn about wine production and taste local wines, visit a historic château and explore a charming French village.

Meet your guide and enjoy the easy drive to Saint-Émilion, a picturesque medieval French town surrounded by farmland and vineyards. Get your palette ready to taste rich, world class Bordeaux wines at the source.

Stop by the historic Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Château for a guided tasting session where you'll get to know Bordeaux wines. A passionate wine professional will share the history and details of local wine production, and guide you through a special tasting.

While more than 86% of Bordeaux wines are red wines made with grapes like Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, don't skip the white wines, usually made with Sauvignon blanc and Semillon grapes.

After the tasting, your guide will lead a short walking tour through the old center of UNESCO protected Saint-Émilion. Explore this well-preserved medieval city, with its steep winding alleys and maze of hidden passages, before driving back to the city of Bordeaux.

We were a group of 4 (mom, daughters and granddaughter). Xavier gave us an excellent tour and accompanied us very well. The guide succeeded in transmitting his passion to us and was able to integrate us easily into his discussions. He also gave us very good addresses for the rest of our stay. The tour was very informative and smooth, despite the French and English group (although I booked a tour in French). Regarding the time available, we would have liked 2 hours more, in order to eat on the spot. In terms of services, the tasting was very good and generous (4 different wines: 1 rosé and 3 reds). We were made to taste real macaroons from St-Emilion. On the other hand, the quantity (1/2 each) was negligible. Finally, we would also have appreciated an interaction with the vines or taking a few steps in the vines.

Really well organised and enjoyable day. 8 people per tour so you get to ask questions, you aren’t crowded and don’t feel rushed. It was a really relaxed and informative day. Everyone was so kind and keen to help and answer questions. I’d thoroughly recommend it! Not as much walking as I though and not as much wine (so don’t expect to come back drunk!)

Nice trip out to St Emilion from Bordeaux. It was raining all day for our trip so this did affect our enjoyment! “Pastry included” is very misleading - we got a quarter of a macron in a shop as a “taster”. Wine samples were only a couple of mouthfuls but I guess this is to be expected. Very nice to see vineyards and hear how the wine is produced.
