Step into the past as you explore the collections at Forchtenstein Castle. Discover the unique stories and treasures around every corner. Start your adventure in the inner courtyard and marvel at the largest secco murals north of the Alps. Walk into the oratory and chapel on the first floor and admire the impressive collection of weapons in one of Europe’s largest private armories. Continue to the second floor and discover a variety of priceless collections. See invaluable artifacts like an ornate 400-year-old Ottoman tent or the three coronation flags dating from the 17th century. Admire a multitude of Esterházy family portraits, among them, images of fictional ancestors, including Attila the Hun and Vlad the Impaler. Explore their art collections which include the Kunstkammer (cabinet of curiosities) that dates from the late 16th to the early 18th century, and gives a fascinating insight into Prince Paul Esterházy's passion for collecting.
