1. Rome: Appian Way and St. Callisto Catacombs Tour by E-bike
Make your way to the Catacombs of St. Callisto on this guided e-bike tour through the Appian Way. Choose between a sunset or morning tour, and marvel at the breathtaking views of the Roman countryside. Starting from the bike depot, go on a quick ride to the Appian Way and visit the Catacombs of St. Callisto. See where the Christians met and prayed 40 meters underground in what would become the official cemetery for Rome's church. Afterward, continue biking along the Appian Way, an ancient road left buried in the countryside. Cycle past fields and woodland to reach the first section of original stones laid by the Romans 2300 years ago. See ruts left in the stone by the wheels of carts pulled along the road by horses over the years. Find your way between the old stones and head down towards a natural spring. This section of original blocks is also walkable. In the natural spring, fill in bottles with mineral water or wine at the wine cellar. It's a great way to see local life and tradition. At the cellar, you can buy snacks and drinks to take with you to the snack stop at the Cafarella Valley, the last part of your tour on the way back into the city. From up high in the Cafarella Valley, appreciate the view of Rome's magnificent countryside along with the rolling hills and valley below. See a fantastic variety of animals like birds, sheep, and goats. Keep an eye out for bunny families that live in the valley. Stop to enjoy a glass of wine or something else you brought from the spring before you return to the bike depot.
