Our most recommended Capital Region of Iceland Air & Helicopter Tours

From Reykjavik: ATV & Helicopter Tour

1. From Reykjavik: ATV & Helicopter Tour

Combine two thrilling Icelandic tours without traveling far out of Iceland’s capital, with this exciting combination of an ATV tour and a helicopter flight. The tour begins when you are picked up from the predetermined meeting point on your voucher, either your hotel or the nearest bus stop, and are driven to the ATV base camp on the city’s outskirts. Here, your friendly, experienced guides will provide you with protective gear, before showing you to your quad bike. Once your group is all ready and comfortable, you’ll set off on the rocky trails up to Lake Hafravatn. After riding around its shores, begin a daring ascent up Reykjavik Peak. Stop once you reach the top to take photographs of the colorful rooftops of Reykjavik, the sparkling waters of Faxaflói Bay, and the flat-topped Mount Esjan. If the weather is notably good, you’ll also see the volcanoes of the Reykjanes Peninsula and the length of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, to its crowning glacier, Snæfellsjökull. Drive back down the mountain to the base camp, where you’ll give back your equipment and be escorted to Reykjavik's Domestic Airport. Once at the airport, meet your pilot, who will brief you on your flight route, before boarding the chopper. Soar through the skies above Reykjavik. The sites of the city are beautiful from street level, even more so from the peak of Hafrafell, but simply without comparison from a helicopter. Your overall journey will take about an hour, but midway through, your pilot will make a mountaintop landing, and allow you twenty minutes to photograph the beautiful surrounding landscapes. The adventure will finish when you land back at the airport, with enough time to fully enjoy the rest of your day.

From Reykjavik: Fagradalsfjall Volcano Helicopter Flight

2. From Reykjavik: Fagradalsfjall Volcano Helicopter Flight

In our Fagradalsfjall helicopter tour, you’ll meet your pilot and receive a briefing on this spectacular journey when you arrive at Reykjavik’s domestic airport, which is at a convenient place. You’ll next walk onto the tarmac to your modern, sleek helicopter, which will be waiting for you to take off. Only five or six seats per craft will be available, ensuring a spectacular perspective and an intimate interaction with the volcano. Please remember that eruptions are a natural occurrence that may or may not be active during your visit. This eruption has occurred on the 19th of March, 2021. Relatively, this eruption is small-sized and has taken place on Reykjanes Peninsula. Its geographical location can be traced in Geldingadalir Valley some 20 miles away from Reykjavik. Before this eruption, the Reykjanes peninsula witnessed such eruptions in the 14th century AD. More Interestingly, some 50000 earthquake jolts have taken place following this eruption. It is a catastrophic scenario in the area. The experts of seismology maintain that this volcanic eruption is no less than a surprise. The reason is that meanwhile, the volcano eruption takes place, there was no seismic activity. Without such seismic activity, the eruption seems unlikely. However, the volcano erupted at this site, proving it to be a surprise for the seismic studies. A major benefit of a flying tour like this one is that you will be able to obtain the best view, away from the masses who have come here on foot, giving you a much more intimate experience while enjoying the best view. Remember our Heli tour will not provide you with landing at the site just to ensure the safety of our passengers. You’ll get some beautiful views of the environment surrounding Iceland’s capital as you loop around to the Reykjanes Peninsula, including the verdant Mount Esja and dazzling Faxafloi Bay. The total duration of the tour is approx. 45-60 minutes. Showing you the simmering crater, flowing lava stream, and the extensive lava field. We feel our passengers will get the best experience inside our helicopter. Be sure that our company is supposed to show you the lava scenes during this Icelandic helicopter tour. If the natural occurrence of lava does not take place during our flight, we are not responsible to carry on another flight or assume a new schedule. All of our flights are weather-dependent, and we must follow the Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management’s rules and regulations to make our Icelandic helicopter tour for volcanoes secure

What people are saying about Capital Region of Iceland

This trip is amazing!! The quad tour is a must-do for everyone who wants to explore the nature of the area around Reykjavik away from the main roads, while having fun! Our guide was amazing (and very funny!!). The helicopter tour was about 35min with a landing on a mountain with a view of the area around Reykjavik! The transfer between the Quad-camp and Reykjavik domestic airport (which is very near to the city centre) was very fast and on time. All in all a 10/10 experience!

ATVs - Watching the sunrise over the mountains was truly amazing. Guide was great and it was a nice small group (5 quads). Thank you Sir Cactus for the entertainment from the pick up point. Helicopter - definitely a worthwhile experience whilst in Iceland. The views were remarkable and it was such a clear day. 6 people in the helicopter but didn’t feel cramped. Pilot was pleasant and helpful.

This trip is done through two different companies. The Safari Quads is amazing! they reached out about our pickup, itinerary, and contacted the helicopter company for us about our flight plan. when the flight had to get canceled for inclement weather, they arranged for the other company to give us a refund and upgraded us to a 2 hour ATV tour. Super amazing

Great experience - super worth it.. The team are great, they were amazing .. extra careful with us, very enthusiastic, they take care of you when gear you up

Great flight, great impressions of the landscape and a great pilot. Everything was perfect, even the weather in Iceland
