Full description
The Roman Empire Museum, also known as the Capitoline Museums, has an extensive collection of art and artifacts all telling the fascinating history of Rome. In 1734, Pope Clementine XII decided to make this significant collection of artwork and ancient sculptures permanently accessible to the people of Rome. Admire the famous she-wolf sculpture featuring Rome's founders Romulus and Remus, and see the treasure chest of items telling the story of Rome, the ancient Caput Mundi. Marvel at the Ancient Roman Forum on top of one of the Seven Hills of Rome. The Centrale Montemartini is the new exhibition space for the Capitoline Museums housed in the first public thermoelectric power plant. Admire hundreds of sculptures from the exhibition entitled, “The Machines and the Gods" in 1997. Explore the opposition between two different worlds: classical art and industrial archaeology. The display reconstructs some of the great monumental complexes and illustrates the development of the ancient city from the Republican era to the late Imperial Age.

The museum is to be done, however I am very disappointed with the organization: I had to queue for 1 hour at the Touristation plazza Venezia meeting point just to collect the tickets purchased via GetYourGuide. The people at Touristation are not pleasant and the audioguides to do with your own phone did not work. You stand in line with people who buy their tickets On the other hand on all the other visits GetYourGuide is SUPER!

Loved this combo ticket, you totally need it if you are into Roman history and art. Make sure to report at the meeting point first and collect the paper tickets. We had the chance to choose exactly the entrance time we wanted for both the museums (so we managed to have lunch in between), awesome assistance

The museum was amazing, we first had to collect our tickets at the office and then we visited both the Empire and Montemartini museums. It was pretty easy to find the office itself, it's just in front of the stairs to the Empire museum. The lady at the office desk was very kind and provided clear informations even about how to reach the museums
