Then, delight in learning the local partner's mother's recipe, which makes the stretched version of the strudel. Stretch the elastic pastry by hand until it is very thin, under your chef's guidance. Fill your strudels with typical fillings — such as poppy-seed with pumpkin, sweet or salty cabbage, and sweet cottage cheese cream — and then put them in the oven to bake.  While you wait, taste some other typical Hungarian bites and enjoy some Palinka (fruit brandy), Hungarian wine, soft drinks, mineral water, tea, or coffee. When your strudels are ready, sit down and savor them together with your group. Finally, take the recipes home with you so you can recreate the strudels for your family and friends.

Booked this to do whilst in Budapest for my birthday hubby's 50th Birthday celebrations. It was so much fun learning to to make the Chimney Cakes. The activity takes place in the basement of the shop and run by a lovely staff member. It last about 45 mins and after you are done, you get to take away the cakes you make, the recipe and a certificate. Would definitely recommend this as something to do whilst in Budapest.

Such a great class! Our hostess was absolutely lovely and so welcoming, she gave us a great history on the Chimney Cake and taught us some great techniques on how to form the cakes. We’ve yet to try our recipes just yet, but the instructions we have been given to make the dough etc. are so clear. This is definitely something you need to do in Budapest!

Our hostess was very friendly. And received us very nicely. All utensils, including an apron, were ready. It was easy to endure in an air-conditioned cellar room. She guided us through the baking lesson in perfect English. My English is not very good, but I understood everything. We even learned a historical background to the chimney cake.

Reviewed all steps for making chimney cakes. Instructor spoke good English and was friendly but professional. Answered all my questions. I was really satisfied with the class and would highly recommend class if you want to learn about chimney cakes and enjoy eating them!
