1. Berlin: Charité Walking Tour
The area of the Charité hospital tells some fascinating stories of life and death. It all began in the 18th century with a pestilence house and developed to become what it is now: one of the major university hospitals in Europe and the buildings themselves, relicts of important moments of medical history. Walk in the footsteps of Rudolf Virchow, Robert Koch, Ferdinand Sauerbruch, Emil von Behring, and Karl Bonhoeffer. The walking tour begins at the famous Charité high-rise bed building and ends at the Monbijou bridge. You will get to hear stories of the geniuses of Berlin medicine, as well as the dark times of the institution, when doctors cooperated with the Nazi regime.
