Full description

Enter the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba, the largest mosque in the Muslim West, and a unique temple in both the Islamic and Christian world. Admire the architectural styles of the Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque periods, and learn why this house of worship was named a heritage site in 1984.

Explore the second largest mosque in the world, spanning 23,400 square meters. Notice the distinct shift in designs, as the Mosque was consecrated as a cathedral nearly 500 years after initial construction.

Wander the inner courtyard, Patio de los Naranjos, and feel the serenity from the lovingly-kept greenery. Visit the prayer room, the mihrab, and the Rojiblancos arches. Add an audio guide to learn more about its expansive and turbulent history.

It was a little stressful at first because there was a long line at 10 a.m. and I was worried that we would be refused entry if we arrived at the counter at 10:15 a.m. but eventually it progressed quite quickly and there is no had a problem. It is really nice.

A great journey through a place that combines two religions, two cultures, two approaches to expressing art ... I recommend it. It is worth planning your visit early in the morning, when there are not too many tourists or trips, although the space for sightseeing is so large that everyone will find a place for great photos.

The building is simply breathtaking and an absolute must to visit if you are in Cordoba. We didn't use the audio guide, preferring to read all the useful signs around each notable exhibit. The little map is really useful and there are QR codes, for additional information. It is a spectacular space and although very busy, it didn't feel so and we found some lovely places to sit and just enjoy the architecture and the serenity.
