Amsterdam: Walking Tour with Dutch Pancake Lunch

1. Amsterdam: Walking Tour with Dutch Pancake Lunch

For the cheese lovers, this 2.5-hour tour is the perfect way to enjoy Amsterdam. Hear the stories not commonly included in the guidebooks and go beneath the surface of the city with the help of an English or Spanish-speaking guide.  Highlights of this tour include: the first Stock Exchange in the World, a walk through Dam Square with its National Monument and Royal Palace, the Red Light District, the Chinese neighborhood and Jewish Quarter, Flower Market, Jordaan Street, and a walk past the Anne Frank House.   And in the end, you will enjoy the Dutch pancake menu in a very nice restaurant with typical Dutch dishes in the city center. From the wild history of prostitution and drug decriminalization to the tragedy of Anne Frank’s story and Nazi occupation, the aim of this tour is to give you a perfect introduction to this city. Whether you visit one of Amsterdam’s famous museums or check out the cafés and bars of the Jordaan District, this tour will help you to get your bearings in this unique city and allow you to make the most out of your stay here.

Amsterdam: Private City Walk

2. Amsterdam: Private City Walk

Learn the history and culture of Amsterdam on a private walking tour with a fun and knowledgeable guide, and skip the dry facts and dates found on so many group tours. By the end, you will feel as if a Dutch friend has shown you around, instead of a lecturer or history teacher. Besides explaining why the houses in Amsterdam look like they do, and how the Netherlands became the first republic in the world, your guide will point out things to do and places to visit in your own time. Ladies - and gents - can take a detour to the best shopping areas, although this is entirely optional! Feel free to provide the guide with any special interests you may have so that he can tailor the tour to suit. End with a walk through the Old Town to see architecture from Amsterdam’s “Golden Age” when it was one of the most influential cities in the world.

Amsterdam: Private Bike Tour

3. Amsterdam: Private Bike Tour

See more of Amsterdam than you would on an organized walking tour, and experience the city like a local from the saddle of a bicycle. With about 881,000 bikes, cycling is the mode of transport of choice for Amsterdam’s 800,000 residents. Join them to discover some of the city’s quiet neighborhoods and local attractions. Cycle along bike lanes to historic highlights, such as the 15th-century De Waag. See former sections of the old city walls, remnants of old bulwarks, and a few really old churches. If you have any particular interests, your guide can tailor the tour to suit. Feel free to request a tour more oriented towards history or culture, architecture or landmark monuments. Get plenty of tips and recommendations to help make the most of your time in Amsterdam, including suggestions on slightly off-the-beaten-track sites for a more authentic experience.

Kosta, our guide, was so knowledgeable and informative, he had a very pleasant and relaxed manner and answered all of our questions. So many interesting facts about the Dam, we learnt so much about the city and it’s fascinating long history, he was very well informed. He really made the tour. Enjoyed the canal boat as it was lovely to rest our weary legs, weather was good, and again lots of interesting facts with a different view of the Dam from the all important canals. Thank you.
