  • See Doune Castle, a stunning place that you'll recognise as Castle Leoch
Full description

After leaving Edinburgh at 9:15 AM you will travel back in time as your driver guides you over the Queensferry Crossing to Culross. This virtually-unchanged 16th-century village overlooks the sea and poses as the fictional town of Cranesmuir. You have time to visit Claire’s herb garden, explore the palace, or wander the ancient streets while you imagine what life must have been like 400 years ago. You will journey past Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument to Doune Castle, or as it’s called in Outlander, Castle Leoch. This formidable building gives you an insight into the living conditions of a Scottish earl in the 14th century.

You can also listen to an excellent audio guide about how this castle was used as a filming location for Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Your next stop is Linlithgow Palace. Here you have time to enjoy beautiful views to the Forth bridges, have a picnic by the loch, and explore the ruins of Mary Queen of Scots’ birthplace. If you’re feeling brave, you can visit the spot where that gruesome Outlander scene took place. You then travel the short distance to Blackness Castle. It’s an impressive castle that’s known as the ‘ship that never sailed’ because it resembles a giant stone boat. You have time to walk along the ramparts and explore the fictional headquarters of Jack Randall. Midhope Castle* is your next highlight. Unfortunately, visitors are unable to go inside the castle, but Jamie’s lovely Lallybroch home is still an essential photo opportunity for any fan of the show. Before heading back to Edinburgh, you will have a final stop in the colorful harbor area of South Queensferry and will return to Edinburgh by approximately 5:45 PM.

Our guides Bruce and Ian certainly knew their stuff and kept us entertained the whole trip. We had plenty of time in each stop, and the bonus was that "Lallybroch" was open, which I had not expected, and despite the weather it did not disappoint. Booking was easy and Rabbie's kept in touch and kept me up to date from the time of.booking. This trip is well worth doing for any Outlander fan, and if you have have Bruce and Ian as your guides then you are in for a fun time

Me and my partner took the Outlander tour with Sean & Grant 13.11.2022. It was so damn good that we want to thank them again. We realized to be one of those who enjoy turist tours in the end. We were guided with a lot of interesting information of locations we could see. Sean was an amazing story teller as well which made it so fun. We laughted so much and felt like a family with the whole group. Sean would know anything we asked for and specialized the tour for the interesteds of the people on board. The experience was topped with the real Scotts being our tour guides (the accent and jokes makes anyone feel comfortable). We also got to hear music, have coffee & toilet breaks and it all just flowed very nicely. We were left with the feeling that we may just hop on a longer tour in the future ( for 3-5 days even ). Thank you. Love Meri & Joona

I might be willing to give a 5-star review if our tour guide Barbara hadn’t started out the tour by loudly complaining about how much she hated Outlander, the main characters, or the lead actor himself. Completely unnecessary, rude, and downright insulting considering the fact all of us had paid a large sum for a magical Outlander specific tour. Incredibly unprofessional and downright insulting to the fans of the show and book. Would consider another Rabbie tour because of the small size, but would honestly ask for a refund if I was stuck with Barbara for another 8 hours. Actual tour was great, sites worth seeing, but Barbara sucked, for a lack of better term.
