Full description

Take in views of the shimmering shores of Loch Lomond and the imposing towers of Stirling Castle on this full-day tour of the breathtaking Scottish Highlands from Edinburgh. Travel aboard a spacious and climate-controlled bus.

Leave Edinburgh and head west to the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. Stop at Balmaha to admire sweeping views of Ben Lomond. Have the chance to go on a woodland walk to get some great views of the Loch.

Relax on the drive to Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s most important structures both historically and architecturally. Many have been crowned at Stirling Castle, including Mary Queen of Scots.

Purchase tickets to the castle and see a site that was central to William Wallace’s and Robert the Bruce's fight in the Wars of Independence. Alternatively, explore the city of Stirling, which is geographically one of the most significant towns in Scottish history.

Stop to see the Kelpies, the world's largest equine sculptures dedicated to the horse powered heritage of Central Scotland, designed by Andy Scott. Finally, return to Edinburgh by early evening.

Our driver/guide, Tim from New Zealand, was a real joy to travel with. He was very informative with a great depth of knowledge and, in addition, was very amusing. We very much appreciated the variety of Scottish music he played between commentaries and he even took the party on a short walk on the shore of Loch Lomond which I know many drivers would not have bothered with. Keep hold of Tim...he's a huge asset!

The day was well organized, in terms of timing and activity, and the guide and driver gave relevant information at regular intervals with always a touch of humour. Very nice day and great experience with all the same a little regret about Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park which we only saw from afar for a photo stop / 40 min break with a point of view that was not not necessarily the best. These destinations being highlighted in the name of the excursion we expected them to represent more than a simple parenthesis on the road to Stirling. Nevertheless, the experience remained very appreciable!

The guide made an effort to solve the problems that there were with the audio guides. It left us with enough time to see Stirling Castle and take a quick tour of the city. A pity that the tour did not include the visit to the monument of William Wallace, which was only about 10 minutes by bus from Stirling Castle. In general, satisfactory.
