Full description

Get away from the crowds on a unique tour of the Grand Canyon with a local expert. Take in the south side, including South Kaibab Trailhead, Cedar Ridge, and Ooh Ahh Point. Learn how the canyon was formed, discover its nature, and enjoy breathtaking views and countless photo opportunities.

Meet your guide in Flagstaff before hopping back in your car to head into the national park. Park along Desert View Drive. Walk less than 1 mile along the wide, easy rim trail to the South Kaibab Trailhead. Enjoy fantastic expansive views of the canyon from the trail without encountering crowds.

Next, hike 1.5 miles down the trail to the Cedar Ridge lookout, where you will stop for lunch. Ask your guide questions along the way to learn what you like about the Grand Canyon with subjects ranging from biology and sociology to vulcanology and geology. Enjoy being out in the great outdoors.

After lunch, take your time to get out of the canyon, taking as many breaks as needed. Stop several times along the way, including at Ooh Aah Point for a snack and photo break. Enjoy the freedom of being in your own car so you can choose whether to stay for sunset or head off somewhere else.
