Rome: Private 3.5-Hour Castelli Romani Wine Tasting Tour

2. Rome: Private 3.5-Hour Castelli Romani Wine Tasting Tour

On this 3.5-hour excursion you’ll head out of Rome with your private driver to the wooded hills of Castelli Romani. The name of the area translates as Roman castles, but in reality it simply refers to a collection of wine-producing hills just southeast of Rome. The tour, priced for a group of up to 4 people, stops at Antico Casale, where you’ll meet the winemaker and then tour the vineyard and cellars. Learn how the wine is produced and maybe even sample a grape fresh off of the vine. After the winery tour, you’ll sit down for a tasting session and sample 3 varieties of wine that are produced here. The first wine you’ll taste is a white Frascati DOCG, which means the wine has its designation of origin guaranteed. The second is a red wine IGP, which has a protected geographical indication. And last but not least, taste a sweet Cannellino wine.  Each wine is paired with a delicious Italian specialty, such as Roman pizza or olive oil, as well as in-season fruits and vegetables from the garden.

What people are saying about Frascati

The words FABULOUS & FANTASTIC are not even close to how myself & my friends can describe our experience at the St. Benedetta Vineyard.... The whole day was an amazing experience from the collection at our hotel by our fabulous driver Vladimir all the way through our tour of this beautiful & breath taking vineyard hosted by it's proud owners Alberto & his son Antonio.... Afterwards we sat in their beautiful gardens surrounded by the wonderful colours & scents from the flowers & herbs everywhere & sampled 4 absolutely DELICIOUS wines accompanied by some extremely tasty local foods. We cannot thank Antonio & Alberto enough for this wonderful experience & can assure them that we will certainly be back..... we would recommend this to anyone considering a visit to Rome. You do not have to be a Wine Drinker to enjoy this Day. A special thanks also to Vladimir who was a great guide & brought us into Frescati where we all enjoyed a truly delicious Italian Gelato!

We weren’t sure what this experience would be like, but we loved it. The driver was on time and took us to the vineyard. The wine was excellent and the sampler were very generous. The people were terrific, the food that was served with the wine was perfect. It was a lovely way to spend a hot morning!!! I highly recommend this activity as a welcome break for Rome sightseeing.

We would highly recommend this tour! The olive oil doesn't even compare to what you get in the states, on top of the local winery and private tour. Yes, expensive but worth every penny. Having a private driver was also great for local Italian and EU conversation. We ordered a case of wine and 6 bottles of olive oil to be delivered back to the USA.

Antonio the guide, was excellent. He took time to not only show us the property, but give us lessons on how to grade the wine and enjoy it. The food was excellent, wine was great, left with 12 bottles. Highly recommend!

Great winery, wonderful ambience steeped in history, warm hosts, delicious food and wines. Highly recommended overall, especially because the hosts take their time
