This underground city were excavated by early christians and expanded in 800 years! This caves used by Christians to defend themseves from religious persecution.It is a UNESCO site and opened for visitors in 1964! I pick you up from your hotel and go to underground city! It takes total 2 hours and if you want we can visit local winery on the way. First we will take a half an hour hike in the valley . Then we will go to the underground city, which was used as a hotel 4000 years ago. The next point will be the pigeon valley and Uçhisar village. First things first, coffee (or tea)! Sip on some aromatic Turkish coffee in a favorite local haunt with some fantastic views. After you’ve got some caffeine in your system, you’ll visit a local fruit and vegetable market. (Note: This is only open on Tuesday, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.) Feel free to try out any fresh produce you’d like. Up next, you’ll head to Ortahisar where you’ll visit caves that were used in ancient times as food storage. Back then refrigerators didn’t exist and these caves were what acted as nature’s refrigerator. Stop for lunch in a beloved traditional restaurant that serves authentic and home-cooked meals. Babayanevi is one of the few restaurants in the area that has a traditional tandoori oven. After lunch, you’ll head to a local farm where ingredients for a restaurant are grown. Then you’ll have some free time to explore the tranquil village of Ibrahimpasa before heading to the Ortahisar Viewpoint. This vantage point boasts brilliant, panoramic 360-degree views of the town all the way to Uchisar and Goreme. After taking some amazing photos of the view, end the day with a sumptuous wine tasting before heading back to your accommodations with your belly stuffed with tasty and unforgettable food.

We had a wonderful experience on this tour. Our tour guide Aygul was so friendly and very knowledgeable about the region and wines, and any questions we had about Cappadocia and Turkey. We had a great day visiting three beautiful winery’s and tasting many delicious wines from Cappadocia. Highly recommend.
