Venice: Private Gondola Ride

2. Venice: Private Gondola Ride

Feel like part of the ancient Venetian tradition, and experience the city as the locals have for more than a thousand years, on this private gondola ride. On your 25 to 30-minute journey, be taken away from the main waterways and tourist sights, as your gondolier navigates you with expertise and precision through some of the narrower, quieter canals of Venice. As you sit back and enjoy the scenery, you'll inevitably become involved in the friendly banter of the gondoliers and their particular Venetian dialect, which is as much a part of Venetian culture as the gondola itself. Pre-book your trip and avoid having to negotiate with the gondolier or stress about details.

Venice: Hidden Corners Rialto Market Tour in German

6. Venice: Hidden Corners Rialto Market Tour in German

The tour starts at the Church of San Giacomo di Rialto and takes participants to the oldest and most important market in the city, the Rialto Market: It supplies not only the residents but also the local bacari (bars) and restaurants with fresh ingredients. After discovering the market, participants will taste the fresh products during a culinary break in the form of a cicheto (typical Venetian snack) and a glass of wine (or water as a non-alcoholic variant). Then the group continues on the traces of commercial history along the shady hidden side streets to the church, where the guild of wine merchants was based. (It is not without reason that the adjacent bank along the Canal Grande is called "Riva del Vin", the "wine bank"!). The journey through time will take participants to the place where luxury goods such as silk or gold were sold and end with a view over the famous Rialto Bridge. The tour ends again at the Church of San Giacomo di Rialto. This tour is accessible as there are no bridges to cross during the route. Our guide Vanessa was excellent. Not only did she take us on a cultural food tour but also gave us a history tour as well when she saw fit. It was so informative. The tastings were excellent and gave you a little taste of authentic Venetian food. She was so accommodating for our little ones we had on the tour, and didn’t want to explore their palettes. I highly advise this tour with Vanessa!

This is a wonderful and really unusual trip. Our guide was excellent, informative and a nice small group. The only feedback I would give is that they should include the Bolovo Tower. It would be a great addition and a spectacular view. Go on your own. If it’s not included. But this trip is great. Particularly the view over the Realto.

Very informative. Not only did we learn about the food we learnt things about Venice we hadn’t known before. Our Guide Alice was very friendly and helpful giving us tips that we could use around the city.

The staff was extremely accommodating to my aunt who is in a wheelchair. The entire experience was perfect. Thank you!

Definitely do this for happy hour! So fun and great food.
