Venice: Private Gondola Ride

3. Venice: Private Gondola Ride

Feel like part of the ancient Venetian tradition, and experience the city as the locals have for more than a thousand years, on this private gondola ride. On your 25 to 30-minute journey, be taken away from the main waterways and tourist sights, as your gondolier navigates you with expertise and precision through some of the narrower, quieter canals of Venice. As you sit back and enjoy the scenery, you'll inevitably become involved in the friendly banter of the gondoliers and their particular Venetian dialect, which is as much a part of Venetian culture as the gondola itself. Pre-book your trip and avoid having to negotiate with the gondolier or stress about details.

Venice: Private Gondola Ride

4. Venice: Private Gondola Ride

It is estimated that there were 8-10 thousand gondolas operating on the canals of Venice during the 17th and 18th centuries. Today, there are just 400 that are still in active service. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience Venice from one of these icons on a private ride. During the ride, you’ll enjoy the majesty of the Grand Canal as well as the silence and the mystery of the smaller canals, through some of the most beautiful locations that Venice has to offer. You will see the Rialto Bridge, the palace Papadopoli, the home of Mozart, Santa Maria della Salute, the Phoenix and the home of Desdemona and Punta della Dogana. All of this, from the best and most fascinating point of view in the city - directly from the water!

Venice: Private 2-Hour Film Locations Cinetour

5. Venice: Private 2-Hour Film Locations Cinetour

Follow in the footsteps of Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, Woody Allen and many more on an exclusive 2-hour cinetour of Venice. One of the most filmed (and photogenic) cities in the world, Venice has played host to hundreds of films through the history of the cinema. Every film buff remembers the suggestive scenes of ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’ set in Venice ‘calli’ (narrow streets) and buildings, or the Doge’s Palace depicted in Orson Welles’ ‘Othello’. Joining the tour you will be able to visit the locations in which these scenes were shot and learn about the anecdotes, legends and stories related to the shootings and their protagonists. If you like romance films, you can focus on the romantic scenarios you saw in movies like ‘Anonimo Veneziano’, Luchino Visconti’s ‘Senso’ or David Lean’s ‘Summertime’. On the other hand, if you are a Hollywood movies fan you will be able to walk the streets walked by Harrison Ford and Sean Connery in Steven Spielberg’s ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’ or visit the locations of the 2010 film ‘The Tourist’ starring Hollywood stars Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. Due to Venice's rich history, costume drama is maybe the most common among the genres of the films that you will discover in the tour: big productions like ‘The Merchant of Venice’, starring Gerard Depardieu, and ‘Casanova’, portrayed by Academy Award winner Heath Ledger, were shot in the exclusive framework of Venice in recent years. In the light of this, it comes as no surprise that Venice is the city of the oldest film festival in the world, founded in 1932. Discover real life city scenes immortalized by films such as ‘Mambo’, with Vittorio Gassman, the Italian comedy ‘Honeymoon’, and Woody Allen's wonderful musical ‘Everyone Says I Love You’.

What people are saying about Grand Canal

We had a great time and would book it again. My only issue would be that in the directions it says that you meet by a wooden hut. There was no hut but we saw the ticket office opposite where the hut should have been and the lady at the desk told us to wait there.

This was very organized and right on time. Everything went smoothly and it was a very nice experience. We are so glad we booked this! I would definitely recommend it if traveling to Venice. It's a once in a lifetime experience.

This provides the opportunity to ride the gondola in Venice, without having to pay the extortionate price.

Verzamelplek was wat lastig te vinden, maar achteraf goed omschreven in de mailbevestiging.

Comply with what they tell you, in addition to being punctual, the experience is worth it!
