Námaskarð is a barren landscape scarred by boiling geothermal water with mud pools. Experience the strong smell of sulfur which hangs in the air here but be sure to stick to the marked walking paths. After a lunch break overlooking Dimmuborgir, we visit the former nature baths located on the tectonic plates between Europe and America. The last volcanic eruption in Myvatn was in 1984 from the volcano Krafla and lava from this eruption is visible everywhere you look. Hverir is an area of bubbling sulphur mud pits and steaming vents, watch your step as you explore this unique area! The Myvatn Nature Baths is our final stop and we recommend you enjoy this optional extra. The geothermal waters are the perfect place to relax before driving back to Akureyri. During the winter months the frost, low lying sun and often snow add something extra to this amazing tour of Myvatn.

After this, we'll be heading back towards Akureyri via Húsavík; if time, weather and conditions allow, we'll find some good places to stop for pictures.
