I'm not a fan of city cards per se. Then you run like crazy from museum to museum to get as much benefit as possible for your money1 If you're lucky the weather isn't crazy and you definitely get more out of 'exploring' the city and the people! It was the same in Helsinki, but the boat tours were a means to an end, you shouldn't miss that, you get a very good overview of the city. As an architect, it was important for me to experience the structures of the city in this way. With the addition of dre Helsinki Design, it wasn't a problem that Finlandia is currently a huge construction site (interesting from a technical point of view!9 and therefore not accessible! I didn't read any information about that anywhere beforehand! Too bad!

Thanks to careful planning, it was definitely worth it. I picked up pre-ordered regional 48-hour cards at Vanta airport for me and my son. With it we visited Kiasma, Design Museum, Rock Church, Sueressare open air museum, Photography museum, a full hop-on-hop-off ride, the Helsinki archipelago boat trip, and used it on regular public transport (including train to the city centre from the airport). Sights open late and close early in Helsinki, so planning is important. We spent both our evenings on Sueomellina, enjoying walks and picknicing through the sunset. Ferry rides to the island ar part of regular public transport and are also covered by the Helsinki. Despite the fact that most sights are free for children (mine is 12 y.o.), having the cards not only saved us precious time but some money as well.
