Reykjavik: Golden Circle Full-Day Tour with Kerid Crater

1. Reykjavik: Golden Circle Full-Day Tour with Kerid Crater

See the best of southwest Iceland on an 8-hour Golden Circle tour by bus from Reykjavik. Visit the spectacular Geysir area, and go to the cascades of Gullfoss Waterfall. Discover where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet in Þingvellir National Park. Travel to the geothermal area of Geysir. Marvel as the active hot spring of Strokkur spouts steaming water 30 meters into the air every 8 minutes. Continue to one of Iceland’s most iconic features at the Gullfoss Waterfall (“Golden Falls“). Feel the spray of the waters of the glacial River Hvítá as it plummets down into a 32-meter deep crevice. Next, enter Þingvellir National Park, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart at a rate of a few centimeters per year. Þingvellir was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cultural value in 2004, and is the site of a stunning rift valley and the Rock of Law, the first Viking parliament. Marvel at the volcanic crater at Lake Kerið, and pass through the Icelandic farms of the south on your drive around the Golden Circle, before returning to your original starting point in Reykjavik.

From Reykjavik: 2-Day South Coast Trip & Glacier Hike

2. From Reykjavik: 2-Day South Coast Trip & Glacier Hike

This thrilling two day-tour begins with a scenic drive to Þingvellir National Park. You'll see the gigantic gap between the Eurasian and American tectonic plates and learn about how the world's oldest parliament ruled Iceland from here for a thousand years! Then we'll make our way to the colorful Geysir geothermal area. You'll see fountains of boiling water shoot high into the sky every few minutes while stepping between hissing hot pots and steam vents! Our next stop is Gullfoss, where you'll see a stunning two-tier waterfall thunder more than 30 meters into a deep canyon. The roaring "Gold Falls" create sheets of spray and rainbows on sunny days, so you'll get some fantastic photos here! Then you'll see the multi-colored volcanic crater at Kerið. Covered in red earth and velvet-green mosses, with a bright blue lake, it creates a fabulous mix of colors! We'll stop for the night at Hveragerði, a tiny South Coast town famous for geothermal greenhouses and sitting on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, where you can stand on two continents simultaneously! The second day begins with three wonderful waterfalls, starting at Seljalandsfoss. Glacial meltwater tumbles down more than 60 meters from a volcano in a narrow ribbon of water. You can even walk through a cave to see the falls from behind! Close by is Skógafoss, another spectacular 60-meter-high cascade famous for being featured in Hollywood movies and TV shows like "Game of Thrones". If it's a sunny day, you'll see rainbows here! The second day's highlight is a trip to Sólheimajokull for an unforgettable glacier hike. This easy-to-reach glacier tongue lets you see these fascinating ice formations up close! The tour ends with a visit to Reynisfjara, the famous black sand beach. A photographer's dream, you'll be thrilled by the endless volcanic sands, the stunning basalt columns, the mighty Atlantic waves and the jagged sea stacks of the Reynisdrangar. The perfect end to an unforgettable trip!

Golden Circle: Private Day Trip

3. Golden Circle: Private Day Trip

Our first stop is Hveragerði, a town surrounded by geothermal areas where people work in the energy industry with new technologies. Next stop is Kerið, one of several volcanic craters in the Western Zolcanic Zone. We will also visit Skálholt church, a historical site which offers a peaceful backdrop as our guide informs you about the history of the area. Next, you will visit the Geysir area in Haukadal where you can see the geysers, hot springs, steam vents, and creepy blue algae. Churn in particular is one of the largest and most powerful geysers and erupts almost every 5 minutes. Our last stop takes us to Thingvellir, where the Icelandic parliament was established - the first of its kind in the world in AD1000. At Thingvellir, you will see how the earth is ever so slowly pulled apart by the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, and you will be able to stand where Viking settlers stood for centuries ruling the law of the land. Enjoy visiting all of these sights from the comfort of our vehicle, with a knowledgable guide and at your own pace with a private tour.

Monica and driver Macias were wonderful, full of information and good at handling a difficult situation with a traveler who shouldn’t have been on the trip, due to a flight leaving at 8:00 PM. She also has a nice sense of spontaneous sense of humor.

Great driver & guide. A long day which was extended by two extra stops to buy ice cream & stroke ponies, which was what some asked for it made the trip over 8 hours which was tiring for the older people.

Amazing guide, learned a lot about iceland in general as well, had an amazing hot sunny day - couldn't have a better day!

Monika was an amazing tour guide. So personable and friendly but also extremely knowledgeable. She was a delight.

Monica was a great guide who was very knowledgeable showing us around some classic Icelandic sites!
