Stay in Kirkwall, the modern day capital of Orkney for 2 nights. Here, you can visit Kirkwall's magnificent Viking cathedral and its historic winding streets. Day 2: Follow in the footsteps of the Vikings as you travel through Orkney Today is your chance to explore the modern and ancient wonders of this fantastic island; a land of contrasts, where fertile green pastures are fringed by shores of golden sands washed by waters of the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean. Highlights include a visit to Skara Brae, the mystical prehistoric stone circle at Brodgar, the standing stones of Stenness and Maeshowe, where in the 12th-century the Vikings left one of the largest collections of Norse runic inscriptions. Day 3Travel through the history soaked regions of Caithness and Sutherland Have your last chance to grab some gifts for friends and family, and visit the local cathedral in Kirkwall. And after a ferry back to the mainland, travel through the history soaked regions of Caithness and Sutherland. Emily was knowledgeable, caring, and efficient. She ran and incredibly well designed trip and balanced giving us quiet time on the bus with information. She was enthusiastic about the places we saw even though she has probably seen them dozens of times. She is an amazing guide. But the trip itself is great. Seeing slices of the North of the Scottish Mainland then the islands in contrast to the area around Inverness was delightful. The stone age sites, while known to me, were more remarkable that what I could get from a brochure or movie. The fun that was injected throughout the trip with little stops for Highland Cows or Puffins was appreciated by most on board. Well worth the time and money investment to go up to Orkney and to see the (almost) midnight sun.

What an interesting place! Such to see that I never expected. Our guide, Stewart was one of the best I have ever had, and that's saying something. His knowledge was amazing. Definitely will book Rabbies again if all the toyrs are as great as this one. From recent times (ww1&2) all the way back to the vikings are even earlier than Stonehenge. Standing stones, amazing ( did nit time travel though) unknown places with fantastic scenery, and friendly people. What more could you ask for? A definite "to do" to add to your list.

This tour was amazing. It was action packed, and we saw so many sights. The second day on the main island was amazing seeing all the Neolithic sights and also seeing puffins. Helen was our tour guide, and she really knew how to keep us engaged. She is very knowledgeable and is a great storyteller. Everyone enjoyed the trip. I am so glad that we booked this tour. We also loved the bed and breakfast we stayed at for two nights in Kirkwall.
