Full description

After an early morning pickup from your hotel, your guide will take you to Grand Teton National Park. Even in the chilling winter, wildlife such as moose, bison, bighorn sheep, elk, mule deer, bald eagles, golden eagles, pronghorn, coyotes, and even wolves can be spotted in the park.  You will witness the beauty of the wide, snowy plains that stretch out to the jagged mountains as you learn about the ancient geology that gave rise to the landscape. At midday, escape the cold and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in the famous western-cowboy town of Jackson, Wyoming. After lunch, you will head back outside for a horse-drawn sleigh ride on the National Elk Refuge, carrying you through the low valley that hosts thousands of wintering elk. Snap photos of the large herds as your guide explains how the elk migrate from the surrounding area to the refuge, a 24,700-acre (9,996-hectare) winter sanctuary hosting 47 different mammals and nearly 175 species of birds such as trumpeter swans and bald eagles. At the end of a memorable 8-hour tour of this winter wonderland, you will return to your hotel.

WOW!!! In order…red fox, mule deer, bald eagle, moose, trumpeter swans, coyotes, elk and bison. And that was before we even hit the National Elk Refuge. Transportation was fantastic and comfortable…and our guide Dallin was even better. As knowledgeable as you could ever hope to have and very personable with a great sense of humor. Lunch at Sidewinders was awesome. Well worth every dollar.

We did the 8 hour trip and had an amazing time! Tyler was our guide and did outstanding. He was so friendly and very informative about the Tetons and history of the area. We were very fortunate to see bison, moose, big horn sheep, deer and bald eagles. We also went through the Elk Refuge and that crew was terrific as well. Tyler was so good to stop frequently, so we could get out and take pictures and he even took some for us through the scope he would set up to see better. Awesome memories made!!

Our guide was EXCELLENT!! She was SO upbeat, friendly and open to answer ANY question that was asked. She did whatever she needed to meet our needs. Her degree was in Biology, but it was SO apparent the she was passionate about wildlife and conservation. I’ve taken lots of tours (Kenya, Israel, Egypt, Alaska), but our “Get Your Guide” guide is at the top of the list!
