Depart Krakow and journey to the incredible Wieliczka Salt Mine in a small group with an English-speaking driver. Meet a local guide employed by the salt mine on arrival, as your driver takes care of your entrance tickets. Make your way into the Danilowicz Shaft in a group of no more than 35 people, and learn the history of the mines on a 2.5-hour tour using earpieces to hear your guide clearly. Descend into the bowels of the earth using 800 steps to reach a depth of 135 meters (442 feet). Marvel at the rock salt walls and sculptures made by contemporary artists. Navigate the subterranean corridors and visit 20 different underground chambers, including the impressive St. Kinga's Chapel. Definitely a must see if you visit Krakow, the tour guide who brought us there, Jakob, was very friendly and knowledgeable. Our guide at the Salt Mines, Simon, was amazing, such a sense of humour and very informative. The only concern I had was that when we booked and paid for our tour we were not told that this does not include the entrance fee, we had to pay a further 270 zolties between 3 of us, we assumed that the cost included both travel and entrance fee, very disappointed in this.

After a very long descent down 800 wooden steps we arrived into long corridors with paths leading off in different directions.. Its hard to believe that the sights we saw were actually made out of salt.. The highlight of the tour was the breath taking sculptures.. The religious ones.. The chandeliers.. The statues.. Amazing.. Thankfully we came back up in a lift...

The company texted us the day before giving us the meeting point. It was located only 5 minutes from our hotel so very good location. The bus was on time and the driver spoke good english. We knew that you had to pay for tickets for the salt mines when you got there so the money which was pre paid was for transport only. However others on our trip did not therefore got a shock thinking they’d paid for everything. Only thing i would say is to make it clearer this is just for the transport NOT the ticket.
