Full description
Escape the hustle and bustle of Lisbon on a full-day tour of Sintra and Cascais, 2 small villages within easy access of the city center, and located in an area of protected natural beauty. Following a pick-up from your hotel, drive to Sintra Hills, home to fairytale palaces and castles. Look inside Pena Palace, considered one of the most beautiful castles in Europe. Enjoy a pleasant walk in the grounds, and admire views of Lisbon on the horizon from its balconies. Next, explore the picture-postcard village of Sintra, stopping to taste the local pastries and shop for souvenirs. Continue to Cabo da Roca to stand at the westernmost point of mainland Europe. Drive down narrow roads far from the tourist crowds. Travel along the coast road, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Tagus River. En route, stop at the fishing village of Cascais, transformed into a home for kings-in-exile and a site of espionage during World War II. Return to Lisbon along the magnificent Avenida Marginal, enjoying views of the Estoril Coast along the way.

We loved the tour. It was a small group only 7 of us. John was really amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Portugal which for us it was great because we were super interested. I highly recommend this for families too. We traveled with our ten year old and she enjoyed the tour as much as we did. Highly recommend and thank you for a lovely time!

Start to finish it was an amazing day, it rained a little whilst at Pena Palace but I feel this made the experience much better personally. We had the best guide and a lot of free time between, I would highly recommend this activity for anyone wanting to see the sights of Lisbon's surrounding area

I'm happy that I took this tour, which was well organized in time and route. It was as a friends get away, so relaxing and enjoyable, directions clear and for someone who is not into joining tours, made me change my opinion. It was a small group of 6 people, we all got along so easily. Recommended!
