Full description
Though perhaps Lubeck is not well known for its Jewish history, there has been and currently is a thriving Jewish Community. Your Private Guide will show you the Lubeck Synagogue as well as tell you the history of Jews living in Lubeck throughout its existance. Your Knowledgeable Guide will also lead you through the cobblestoned streets of historic Lubeck, where you'll learn more about the beginnings and growth of this UNESCO Heritage Site of the Hanseatic City of Lubeck. Jews weren't permitted into the City of Lubeck during the Hanseatic Era, but were finally granted permission to settle in the suburb of Moisling. In 1812, the first synagogue was built in Lubeck and the current Lubeck Synagogue was build in 1880. Discover the contributions to Lubeck from the Jewish Community from your Informed Guide who will be able to answer any of your questions. Following your time at the Lubeck Synagogue - which doesn't allow private visits due to crimes against the Synagogue - your 5-Star Guide will point out the other Lubeck highlights in this Museum Quarter in Old Lubeck. Included will be St. Anne's Museum, after which your Expert Guide will take you past St. Mary's Church with its Astronomical Clock before finishing your tour at the Holstentor - the iconic Gate leading into the Old Town of Lubeck.
