Full description

Have an adventure along the El Caminito del Rey and walk 100 meters above the Guadalhorce River. Discover the Conde de Guadalhorce Dam, Desfiladero de los Gaitanes Canyon, and Guadalhorce River's history and importance to El Caminito del Rey.

Meet your guide and board your bus for a ride towards Conde de Guadalhorce Dam. Begin your walking tour and learn how the dam is Málaga's main water reserve. Hear about the history of the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes and how the canyon was carved by the Guadalhorce River from your guide. Prepare to test your nerves on a high-up adventure along El Caminito del Rey. Follow the path which is about 3 kilometers long and less than 1 meter wide, hanging 100 meters above the Guadalhorce River. See the construction of a water channel from the reservoirs in the north to El Chorro and how the pathway was built for maintaining the channel. The driver shoed up over 75 minutes late and then drove in a very unsafe manner to try to get to the Caminito Del Rey on time. Then, he practically ran, with us trying to follow, the 1.5 km. to get to the guide and the start of the trail. The van itself was comfortable.

A fantastic walk with stunning scenery, gentle climbs that won’t challenge anybody with an average fitness level. The coach was on time and provided comfortable travel. The guide was knowledgable but didn’t engage outside of the information stops. Walking was at a comfortable pace, with plenty of photo opportunities. Avoid the toilets at the start if you can, there’s was no toilet roll or soap - the ones at the end are better. Great set up at the end of the tour with food and drink available.

Fran(cisco) was the best tour guide I have ever had on an organized day trip, GetYourGuide or not! It is clear he loves his job and he is enthusiastic, charismatic, funny and informative. I especially appreciated the booklet of pictures he had to provide visual aids to what he was talking about. The day I went, the weather was perfect and the trail was not extremely crowded; we only caught up to the group in front of us once or twice. This hike is mostly flat and not strenuous at all for someone who is more or less in shape. Even though there is no bathroom on the trail, there is one at the beginning and the end. There are also opportunities to buy food before and after the hike.
