Full description

From up among sparkling glaciers and down to a land of palms, the Bernina Express offers a change of scene like no other. No other railway links north to south in such a wonderful manner on trains with glass-topped panoramic cars. In the morning, depart by bus from Milan Piazza della Repubblica to the cosmopolitan city of St. Moritz. Upon arrival, enjoy time at your disposal for a panoramic walk along the lake area, some shopping, or sweet-tasting in one of the delicious local pastry shops. In the afternoon, head over to the train station and get seated in one of the panoramic carriages on board the Bernina Express Train bound for Tirano.

Experience one of life’s finest cultural and natural-world experiences on a train that traverses no fewer than 55 tunnels and 196 bridges, easily tackling inclines of up to 70 mm/m along the way.

Admire the view as the train travels into the mountains. Gaze in awe at the panoramas of the Morteratsch Glacier and the world-famous Montebello Curve.

Continue past the lakes of Lago Bianco e Laj Neir up to Alp Gruem. Arrive in Tirano before boarding a bus to make the return journey to Milan with a scheduled arrival in the late evening.

Walter the bus driver did an excellent job navigating the big bus around sharp corners and scary roads. Kiara was an excellent tour guide. Her commentary was very informative and she was very friendly and patient. St Moritz was great, lots of snow and the Bernina Express train ride was out of this world. We highly recommend it

Scenery along both bus route and train route is beautiful. Host should organize seating on the train. Those who were the first to board from the group all selfishly took window seats so that all coming after were divided and relegated to aisle seats. Host should advise pairs traveling together to sit side by side so that other pairs have the opportunity to sit by a window. A little bit of instruction to the group to take others into consideration or the host assigning seats would have made this experience much more enjoyable.

The experience was very nice and the landscapes are breathtaking. We arrived in St. Moritz at 12 and at 14.48 we had the Bernina train, perhaps a little short time to eat and do things calmly, even if the city is not very big. The Bernina train is very beautiful up to Alpe Grunn then in fact the landscape is monotonous and I expected better from the helical viaduct, I probably did not appreciate it because the meadows were not yet green.
