Full description

On this full moon hike, admire the landscape and unique rock formations, illuminated by the glow of the moon. Gaze up to the sky as your guide points out satellites, planets, and constellations.

When the full moon comes around each month, it provides enough light to read a newspaper near midnight. The canyons and arches take on a mysterious white glow as the landscape is illuminated in a different way.

This easy to moderate hike provides a great opportunity to admire the stars. As you look up at the night sky, your guide, with the help of a laser pointer, will show you the different satellites, planets, and constellations that can be seen at this time.

We went for the moon tour to the Corona Arch, but left before the moon came up. The guides were very informative. But, I would suggest more patience and wait for the moon to appear since that is what we were expecting to see. The moon appeared as we walked away from the arch.

We didn’t really know what to expect when we started. We had done a full day of hiking prior to this hike and when Tyler asked us if we were up to a 3 mile hike, we asked for one closer to 2 miles and he didn’t blink. He has multiple trails and chose the one that fit our request. We started at dusk, and watched the magnificant sunset. When it got dark, we put on headlamps. Along the trail, Tyler filled us with so much interesting information. He seemed able to answer all our questions very knowledgably. At he end of the trail, he used his laser pointer to outline the different constellations, planets and satellites. Although it was a hazy sky because of the fires in the west, we still managed to see a lot in the sky. The moon was rising just as we were ending the hike, and it added a new dimension to what we were seeing. This was a great experience for us!
