    Full description
    The half-day excursion includes an easy walk to the impressive Monte Fontana and a visit of the famous valley Valle del Bove. Wander through old and new lava flows, walk on extinct craters, and visit a real lava cave equipped with helmets and flashlights, where ice was produced centuries ago. Your guide will show you the great variety of flora and fauna here - plants and animals which populate the active volcano. While walking through ancient forests you will learn a lot about the vegetation and the wildlife of Mount Etna. Your last stop of the half-day tour will be around the cold lava streams of Piano Provenzana, which were destroyed during the last big eruption in 2002. At the end of the tour you will be driven back to your accommodation. Altogether this will be an unforgettable experience.

    Pick up from hotel and on time. Interesting tour out in the woodlands and nature of Mt Etna. Volcano was also active at at the time but we stay at a safe distance. The trekking part of the tour is very hard as expressed by other participants. It is suited for the physically fit. I turned back immediately but still enjoyed the surroundings. Those who did not do this part of the event were kindly driven to a nearby facility for coffee and toilets. No need for jackets etc as we did not reach a very high altitude, good walking shoes are a must. Well worth the money. Our pick up was at 8.30 and returned to Taormina at about 15.30.

    We really liked the Etna tour, which was mainly due to our guide Christian. His enthusiasm for Mount Etna could be felt at all times and was very contagious. He was able to immediately answer every question with some interesting additional information and stories. Unfortunately, the off-road part (which we were really looking forward to) was not quite as exciting as we had hoped, since we drove the route with a large Mercedes and not a small jeep due to the size of our group. So we were very slow, which took away a lot of the tension. For maybe EUR 10.00 less per person you can do without that part, then the tour would be very good! I would still recommend the tour at any time because of Christian, and the colleagues who led the tour in the foreign languages also made a very good impression.

    Very nice driver who told us a lot about the history of Etna. For the walk through the lava field, sturdy shoes are an advantage, as differences in height have to be mastered. Not extreme but sneakers etc tend to slip on this surface. Finally, we visited a lava cave that had icy spots. On February 24th, sneakers weren't the best footwear either. Nothing dramatic, our driver helped us, there were enough helmets and lamps. In addition, the cave was only about 15m long. The tour was very nice for us, we can only recommend it. The 5 hours are a guide, please do not put them on the gold scales. Our tour was nearing the 6th hour
