Full description
Starting from the Hauptbahnhof (Central Train Station), this half-day bicycle tour is a great way to see the city of Munich. Guides are local Munich residents who know the best routes, the best stories, and the best spots to stop for a quick drink. The first stop of the tour is the Neoclassical square, Königsplatz, often called Munich's Acropolis. A few minutes away is the impressive Odeonsplatz. Both are the legacy of King Ludwig I of Bavaria, a 19th-century monarch who wanted to make a grand city for kings. He actually succeeded in making Munich a great city for cyclists. From Odeonsplatz, you'll cycle through the picturesque royal gardens to the Englischer Garten, Europe's largest city park, where nudity happens to be legal. Then the tour stops at the famous Chinese Tower beer garden for refreshments. Cruise along the lovely banks of the river Isar, which leads back into the heart of Munich's beautiful Old Town. The charming pedestrianized Medieval streets around Marienplatz feature churches, markets, and cafes, and are a cyclist's heaven.

Our guide Gottfried made this tour a real experience. With a lot of humor and eloquence, he maneuvered us on good bikes through the city to many points worth seeing. The pace was impeccable. The break in the beer garden was great and crowned with extra beer knowledge. An all-round successful tour. Again and again!

We loved the bike tour through Munich! Our tour guide (sorry we can't remember her name - young lady with brown hair who studied anthropology) was great! She gave detailed information about the city - we learned about the origin of Munich, explored important landmarks, and even stopped at a Beer Garden to re-energize. With this bike tour, you get to explore more areas than you would be able to on foot. Would definitely recommend!

Nice tour - but unfortunately without a break

Unfortunately the tour started with our guide "Elisabeth" transferring us so that our tour only started 1 hour later. That's why you rushed yourself so hard in the morning. We then cycled across Munich and saw a lot. We got off our bikes at the prominent points and were told a few things about the buildings, etc. With over 3 hours of driving, it would have been nice to have been able to take a (toilet) break. Then one of our bikes lost air on the way and Elisabeth was quite at a loss, as not a single bike was equipped with an air pump. There is still room for improvement
