Meeting point

Your host’s home is just 10 minutes away by car from Porto city center. It’s recommended to use Bolt, FREE NOW, or Uber for a fast ride. If you’re traveling with more than two people, it is the cheapest and fastest way. If you have your own car, there are free parking spots in the street. If traveling by bus from Bolhão, you can take bus 800 or 801 that stops just across the street from the house (direct 20-minute ride). Keep in mind that you can only buy the ticket inside the bus with coins. If traveling by metro from Trindade Station, you can take the Orange Metro Line (direct 30-minute ride) and leave at the Fânzeres stop, after which it takes about a 10-minute walk (700 meters) to reach the house.

The host was super nice spoke a perfect English and payed attention constantly to all of us during the class. The weather outside was terrible, so I felt great to have a contentful programme like this inside, made me feel like I am getting to know the culture more even dough I can not wonder around the city. She even shared her recommendations for the city, which made me feel really grateful!

We were welcomed at Joana's home with a group of 10 people. There was a very nice group vibe and a homely feel. At first Joana shared the story of the Pastel de Nata's and then we started making the pastry from scratch (we were working as a group). In the end we got to enjoy our selfmade Nata's. Very interesting to know the story behind the pastries and how they are made, it makes you look at them differently.

Joana Costa was a delight and most informative. Although it stated in the class description that we would be cooking and eating, I did not expect that we would be participation so much in this class. Joana was very enthusiastic and engaging. It was a treat to be participating in this wonderful baking heritage.
