A visit with the audioguide allows you to discover the inner courtyard of this wonderful palace, built as an expression of the interrelations between man and nature. Wander through the hanging garden and the charming rooms of the Palazzo Piccolomini, then enjoy a breathtaking view from the loggia over the Orcia Valley.  The palace was the summer residence of Pope Pius II, and is part of a complex that includes the cathedral and the square, commissioned by the Pope and built in 1459 by famed architect Bernardo Rossellino, student of Leon Battista Alberti. The rooms on the main floor are furnished with period furniture, paintings and other furnishings, testimony to a past that still remains intact. Pienza is also known as having the first roof garden of the Renaissance, with views of the Val d'Orcia and Mount Amiata.

We had very good comments of the city History and helped a lot using google maps to go from une place to the next, not too many explanations as was expressed before buying the tour, is not an audio guide, we paid a guided tour inside the Dome and together complemented very well. Highly recommend to have a portable wifi for all the participants, because it uses data to operate, and don't forget your power cell to recharge your cellphone.

A wonderful history of the family and location rich in wine making for hundreds of years! Current winery is only 7 years old and has already won awards in Europe ! Delizioso

Safety pin!

Touring the halls of this palace is a journey back in time. The halls and even the room of Pope Pius II remain as is.
