Full description
A visitor will quickly understand why the Musée d’Orsay is consistently ranked the favorite museum of Parisians themselves. Built over 100 years ago as a train station welcoming international visitors to the World’s Fair, the Beaux-Arts structure now displays the best art from that period, making it an essential visit during your stay in the City of Lights. Your expert guide, fully accredited and eager to open your eyes to artistic passion, will meet you right in front of the museum, and your group will bypass any long lines to enter immediately. Believe it or not, the Impressionists’ peaceful scenes of rural and city life were thought absolutely shocking when they were painted. The vivid colors and expressive brushstrokes truly shook the foundations of the artistic establishment. Your guide will bring to life the turbulent personalities of the painters, describing how each artist dared to explore new territory and to pursue success without compromise. Traveling back in time, you’ll learn how these images and messages changed the art world forever. Your guide will take you to all the major highlights, and introduce you to many other beautiful masterpieces along the way. Your entrance ticket allows you to stay in the galleries on your own if you wish, to further explore the collection or perhaps take in a special exhibition.

I am so happy I chose to do a tour instead of roaming the museum myself. Liliya Goldenberg Was my tour guide and the way she lead us through the museum was perfect. She taught me so much about the rise of Impressionism and what the world was like when these artists came on the scene. She had so many great stories about the different artists that you don’t see on the plaques by the paintings. One was a theory that Van Gogh did not cut of his own ear. Want to hear the full story? You will have to take her tour. A+ I left knowing a lot more about Art History along with seeing these masters work in person.

Our guide, Hervé, was phenomenal! His passion for art and history was infectious. Every museum we visited subsequently was a richer experience because of the knowledge he imbued. Simply fantastic! Do not hesitate to book this tour. We booked by chance, not knowing the tour company or seeing any reviews. We feel very lucky to have stumbled upon this tour.

When we arrived from the metro it was raining. Our umbrellas served us well. We waited with others in sheltered areas until Wendy arrived at the scheduled time. What a perfect tour. She explained the highlights and concepts of impressionism art so well. We'll remember her tour forever. The tour was at 1015, we had lunch in the D'Orsay afterwards and spent the afternoon in the area. Perfect day. Thank you ! Don and Karen, Calgary, Canada
