I went on the 08:15 morning tour and while I was initially hesitant because it’s so early, I’m glad as the palace was quickly filling up when we were finishing the guided part of the tour around 10:30 free to roam Versailles on our own. It was very useful to have Natalie as our guide as she had so much insight to share and a lot of the descriptions are in French (which is admittedly barely speak). It was also an easier way to meet other tourists from France and elsewhere.

First of all, if it’s your first time visiting Versailles, it is definitely worth going there with a knowledgeable guide because this chateau is enormously huge. I was visiting it on December 30th and it was literally hard to catch up on air as the place was packed, hopefully we were provided with a headphones so we could perfectly hear our guide. The actual tour excluding the traveling to the château was approximately two hours and we spend the whole time only in one of the wings and then we had to go back to our bus. So I would recommend telling your guide to stay there instead and spend the whole day exploring it by yourself. Our guide was really knowledgeable but the issue was that she was French and I felt that there was a tiny language barrier as she sometimes didn’t know the name of particular objects in English so she was saying it in French and sometimes the off topic questions related to the Versailles slightly baffled her. But generally speaking the tour was good.

Very good experience. Ticket involved pick up next to Eiffel Tower, drop off at Versailles. Tour guide throughout who told us about the history of the palace and was informative throughout the tour. We were able to skip the line with this ticket and were also provided with ear phones to listen to our guide when it got crowded. Everyone was on time. They dropped us back in front of Eiffel Tower. Whole tour lasted around 4 hrs. Highly recommend.
