The first stop is a visit to Castromil's gold mines. The next stop will be in the Roman ruins of Castro Mozinho, where you can absorb and understand a little more of the history of Portugal. To top it off, nothing like a visit to the ever surrounding Quintandona Preserved Village, a place where all buildings are in shale.

3. From Porto: Hiking and Swimming in Gerês National Park

Spend the day walking through Geres NAtional Park, just an hour and a half from Porto. Immerse yourself into the heart of the park, explore the grounds, and enjoy a coffee. Hike for 10 km to the 7 natural pool, spend some time admiring the natural beauty, and head back to the starting point. THE HIKE: We will have a 10 km (6.2 miles) hike which will take us to 7 magnificent natural pools situated in the heart of the park. The hike will be divided into 2 stages, 5 km (3.1 miles) from the starting point to the pools, where we will stay for around 1.5/2 hours to dive in the amazing natural pools (depending on people's willingness we can stay a bit longer) and then the other 5 km (3.1 miles) back to the starting point. The path is on an uneven terrain but without steep slopes. HIKE DIFFICULTY: Difficult: for people who are not used to walking. Medium: For people who are used to hiking for 10 km in the countryside Easy: For people who are used to hiking for more than 10 km on uneven terrain with steep slopes. LUNCH: For lunch, you need to prepare your own food as there's nothing around where you can eat. Please bring lots of water as it might be very hot. GROUP SIZE: From 8 to 15/pax maximum. After the hike, we will have the chance to stop in a local tavern for a refreshing drink and relax a bit before our way back to Porto city. The meeting point will be at Rua das Taipas nº 50, Porto. Arrival in Porto will be around 6:30 PM
