Sample the delicious food and wines of Portugal on a walking tour of Porto's historic city center with a local guide. Hear all about the landmark monuments and learn more about the food and drink culture of the local people.

Start the tour in Taberna Santo António, one of the most typical restaurants in Porto. Here, you can taste “Petiscos”, Bolinho de Bacalhau accompanied by a Beirão shot (typical liquor from Portugal). Make your way to the next restaurant, Picota - A mesa do Largo. Here you will eat some Alheira meat with some green wine. Learn about the history of the dish and the process behind the creation of this delicate meat product. Next, head to a restaurant to try the iconic Portuguese Bifana, a small sandwich with meat and rich and slightly spicy tomato sauce. Pair this with a glass of Portugal's famous Super Bock beer. Finish the food tour in a beautiful and cozy restaurant, Maria Odete. Enjoy a meal of cheeses and chorizos, codfish as the main course, and Douro wine. A great experience to finish the day. Silvia was truly a great guide and awesome company. We were lucky to be in a small and very talkative group who just enjoy the experience. The reason for 4 is that the food selection was a bit on the heavy side.. they are not kidding when they suggest to skip lunch.

Tasty overview of some of Porto's "tapas"

An overview of some of Porto's "tapas" equal weight food and drink. One caution the tour places a very heavy emphasis on meat based foods so vegetarians will find themselves hungry if a little tipsy. The combination of new food experiences and new found friends makes for a very pleasant evening.

    Perfect for trying local food.

This tour is perfect when spending a short time in Porto. Our guide Diago was well informed and spoke excellent English ( except for Cod Fish ) filled us in on other information about Porto and the Portuguese. We ate food that we might not have tried, as tourists ( who love food, it was good to have some local insight as to what the locals really like to eat.
