Singin' in the Rain Musical in Hybernia Theatre

3. Singin' in the Rain Musical in Hybernia Theatre

The story is set in 1927, when a silent film star couple, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont, are faced with the challenge of starting to talk in films. For Don, this is no complication, unlike Lina, whose voice is ridiculously squeaky. It already looks like the shooting of the new film is going to be a fiasco. But there’s also Don’s good friend Cosmo Brown, a pianist and composer, who comes up with an idea… And that’s when the young and beautiful aspiring actress Kathy Selden shows up. She charms Don (there would be no musical without love…) and eventually the two friends come up with the idea that she could dub Lina. Come to the Hybernia Theatre to see how everything will turn out! You can look forward to numerous beautiful music, funny lyrics, crazy situations, but also interesting dance choreography and tap dancing. „I’m singin’ in the rain. Just singin’ in the rain. What a glorious feeling! I’m happy again….”, once wrote Arthur Freed and Nacio Herb Brown, and the song from the musical Singin’ in the Rain became popular. However, at that time we knew only the film version of the romantic musical comedy from 1952. The stage version of Singin’ in the Rain did not appear until 1985. It first opened at Broadway’s Gershwin Theater, and had a total of 367 sold-out performances. Later, the musical was performed on stages all over the world. So far in Czechia, the Singin’ in the Rain musical has been presented ten times. It had its Czech premiere at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre (Jiří Myron Theatre) in Ostrava in 1999 and was most recently performed by the South Bohemian Theatre Opera in České Budějovice in 2015. Among the most successful was the Liberec version directed by Oldřich Kříž. With the musical stars of the first quality, it was performed until 2015. A variation of this production came to Prague’s Hybernia Theatre in the beginning of 2023. And there is definitely a lot of things to look forward to! V.I.P tickets include a backstage tour, which also features a tour of the terrace with a beautiful view of Prague. Please note that seats in the 1st row have a small space for legs. If you for any reason need more space, we kindly ask that you choose another row to sit in. Thank you for your understanding.
