Move towards the Panecillo viewpoint, an iconic place in the city, renowned for its beauty and giant statue of the Winged Virgin - here you can admire a beautiful landscape of both colonial and modern Quito (entrance to churches not included). Continue on to the traditional La Ronda neighborhood. In this romantic setting you can find workshops where you can learn from a group of authentic artisans how their work is done. See historic trades that keep alive the cultural traditions of this charming city. Stop at Zona Rosa for approximately an hour and a half to have some free time for lunch (not included). The guide is very friendly and knowledgeable, the trolley is quaint but not very comfortable. The information given is mostly about the history of Quito and less about the actual art and architecture, which wasn’t so much what I was interested in. The places he tool us were wonderful, including gorgeous churches and charming old city streets, a delicious chocolate tasting, and the Middle of the Earth park with all its scientific activities and photo opportunities. But the drive there was a bit long for that uncomfortable trolley.

I enjoyed the experience from being picked up at my hotel to being toured around the city. Although I’m not a fan of chocolate I even tried the chocolate during the tasting session it was a great experience overall and the tour guide was very aware of how we were feeling based on the elevation.

This is a fabulous tour - combining the old town with 'Middle of the World'. Our guide Daniel, was great - providing detailed explanations of the buildings were visited, the history, and some great stories. The morning gave us the chance to explore some of the key buildings in Quito's old town, and Daniel's input brought the places and Quito's history alive. We crammed a fair bit in, in the morning but not having to walk long distances between places was nice. The afternoon's visit to the 'Middle of the World' was fun. Again, Daniel made it interesting, and provided us with complementary information to what was already available. It might be corny having your picture taken on the equator line but that's why we were there, and Daniel helped out, making sure we got the pics we wanted. Overall, the day was fab, our guide made it very enjoyable and all for $40 - value for money without a doubt!
