Full description

Undergo a unique underwater experience by snorkeling in the Silfra fissure on a half-day tour from Reykjavik. Frequently rated as one of the world's top 10 dive sites, Silfra offers up to 100 m (300 ft) of underwater visibility.

Admire views of Iceland's stunning landscape as you ride from Reykjavik to the heart of Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site. Snorkel in this location for 1 hour with your guide, before returning to the warmth of the tour van and heading back to Reykjavik.

The cold waters melt off a glacier 50 km (30 miles) away, and make their way through lava fields to beautiful Thingvellir Lake.

Although the chilly waters are too cold to support much in the way of marine life, Iceland's Silfra crack runs down between the American and European continental plates and offers amazing underwater views.

Snorkelling Silfra was a fantastic experience as the natural landscape is one of a kind. The guides very helpful and great fun. Because one of our group wanted to get out, we had to wait while the guide escorted her out and returned to us, by which time the next group where on our heels. I think this led to very hurried underwater shots - taken without warning - and mine wasn't taken in the water at all which was disappointing. Having seen other shots taken by other guides on the day, I feel all of our group's shots were poor as the depth of the fissure couldn't be seen. It could have been anywhere. I still enjoyed the day and would recommend doing it if you enjoy snorkelling or unusual experiences. Don't be put off by the cold. The thermal undercut and drysuits kept me very warm and even though others complained of cold faces and hands, I can't say they were at all bothersome to me.

This trip was such a good experience, we had so much fun and it was so beautiful, not as cold as you may think! Our tour guide, Siggi was great! Told us lots of information on the way to Silfra and helped my Boyfriend when he felt unwell because of the Snorkelling. They also take great pictures of you under the water

The Silfra Snorkeling adventure was fabulous from start to finish. Get Your Guide dies a fantastic job. Our instructor Diogo was really informative about everything and always with safety in mind. He gave us great pre snorkel instructions and watched us really closely the whole time. The website itself was really thorough with directions, parking, and meeting spot. The only thing I was unsure of was how much layers to wear and landed up having to take off layers to put on the underlayer. More info on that would be great since I overdressed and the suit would not have fit with too much clothing. It was pouring out while I peeled off extra clothing. Another thing is it's hard to tell people apart on the pictures so maybe colored armbands would be helpful to distinguish each snorkeler. Otherwise a great experience!
