1. Reykjavik Quad Bike Twin Peaks Tour

Take a scenic Quad Bike ride in the outback area of Reykjavik and be rewarded with a million dollar view of the city. The Twin Peaks tour is an extended version of Safari Quad’s Mountain Safari, with an extra mountain top added to the mix. A bit more technical, this is definitely a more complete ATV experience, combining gravel roads, mountain tracks, rocky paths, and a steep ascent. The 4-hour adventure begins from the base camp, where you will start the ride on a gravel road along beautiful Lake Hafravatn. Then, head up a mountain trail to the top of Hafrafell. Once you stand there, you will enjoy great views over the whole Reykjavík area and the surrounding mountain range. After your first hour on the ATV, you will be feeling more confident, so it is time to head to Úlfarsfell Mountain, the view over Reykjavik from the summit is even more stunning. On a clear day you will even be able to see Snæfellsjökull Glacier, hundreds of kilometers away.

From Reykjavik: South Coast and Black Beach ATV Ride

3. From Reykjavik: South Coast and Black Beach ATV Ride

Ride a powerful ATV over a large, black, volcanic beach, walk behind the thundering veil of water at Seljalandsfoss waterfall, and take in the incredible view over Iceland's South Coast from the top of the cascade Skógafoss on this fantastic day tour.  After being picked up early in the morning or meeting up with your guide at Reykjavík Terminal, head to Iceland's South Coast, famous for its dramatic coastline and cascading waterfalls. Your first stop is the black desert of Sólheimasandur, in the shadow of Eyjafjallajökull glacier, where you'll swap the bus for a powerful ATV quad-bike.  After traversing the stark, black beaches of Island's South Coast on your ATV bike, make your way to the DC3 plane wreck from 1973, recently seen in Justin Bieber’s music video and photo shoots. Looking northwards and inland, the Mýrdalsjökull glacier rises majestically, while to the south you can sense the raw power of the enormous Atlantic waves crashing on to the shore. Once back on the bus, continue your journey and visit an iconic waterfall duo: Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss. The former falls from the heights of 60-metres, and a staircase next to it will lead you to unbelievable views of the South Coast and Iceland's interior. Seljalandsfoss, however, is a narrower cascade which falls over a concave cliff, making it possible to fully encircle the stream of water.

Reykjavik ATV & Northern Lights Tour

6. Reykjavik ATV & Northern Lights Tour

The sun is quite shy here in winter, so it's a good thing the ATVs are equipped to handle the snow and darkness. Your keen sense of adventure is as important as those mittens on your hands for this tour. Your Safari Quads Guide will meet you at your hotel accommodation to take you to our Safari Quads base camp where the excitement begins. Before you hit the off-road trails in the natural playground, guides will teach you how to operate the bikes and discuss safety instructions. Once everyone is geared up and ready to go, you'll  head out for an adventure up to Hafrafjall mountain and beyond. The ATV tour is one full hour out on the trails that cut through the ruggedly beautiful Icelandic landscape. After the tour, you'll  relax, defrost and enjoy a hot cup of coffee then afterwards be dropped off at the Gray Line bus station for part two of your excursion. The hunt for the Northern Lights is then on! Your guide will take you out of Reykjavík city to the best places to see the Northern Lights swirling across the night sky in their magnificent shapes and colors. Located under the Auroral Oval, Iceland is one of the best places on Earth to experience the beautiful and mysterious northern lights. Northern lights (Aurora Borealis) are most frequently seen around the North Pole, within an oval shaped region drawn around the Northern hemisphere called the aurora oval. Iceland lies within this most active region meaning that the Northern lights are potentially visible from every place in Iceland. You'll be accompanied by an engaging and educated guide as he takes you on your journey away from the buzz of the city to check off the item at the very top of your bucket list.

Golden Circle and ATV: Full-Day Combo Tour from Reykjavík

10. Golden Circle and ATV: Full-Day Combo Tour from Reykjavík

Your full day of activity begins at a quad base just a few minutes from the Reykjavík city center. Experience the freedom of driving an ATV up to the top of Mount Hafrafell before hopping on a coach to discover Iceland's' most famous sights on this tour. This tour is the most popular sightseeing tour in Iceland and a must-see for any first-time visitor to the country. You’ll see Þingvellir National Park, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Þingvellir is the national shrine of Iceland, the birthplace of the nation, and the country’s top historical attraction. It is the only place in the world where tectonic plates can be seen above sea level. Next, you’ll visit the Geysir hot spring area. The entire area is on top of a vast, geothermal field dotted with bubbling, multicolored mud pools, hissing steam vents, hot and cold springs, warm streams, and primitive plants. This is where you’ll see the original geyser, after which all others were named. Geysir is dormant most of the time but its successor, Strokkur, erupts every 10 minutes or so and its white column of boiling water can reach heights of 20-30 meters. A few minutes’ drive away is the Gullfoss (Golden Falls) Waterfall. Marvel at the white water thundering down a 32-meter drop into an impressive canyon. On a sunny day, you’ll be able to see a rainbow through the drizzle, and in winter, the scene is even more spectacular, as part of Gullfoss freezes over!

ATVs - Watching the sunrise over the mountains was truly amazing. Guide was great and it was a nice small group (5 quads). Thank you Sir Cactus for the entertainment from the pick up point. Helicopter - definitely a worthwhile experience whilst in Iceland. The views were remarkable and it was such a clear day. 6 people in the helicopter but didn’t feel cramped. Pilot was pleasant and helpful.

My fiancé & I went for a quad bike tour with Mel & she was brilliant. She spent time at each view point taking pictures & we felt safe the entire time. She also helped us with the bus routes for the remainder of our trip. Definitely recommend.
