Full description

Journey through time at the stunning archaeological site of Pompeii, and get a unique insight into life in the Roman Empire. Depart Rome and travel along the Highway of the Sun, admiring the countryside of Lazio and the Castelli Romani along the way. The first stop is in Naples. Explore this Mediterranean city which is famous for its rich history, art, culture, and gastronomy.

Drive up the Vomero hill for a view over the town which overlooks the bay of Naples and extends from the Sorrento peninsula to the volcanic area of Phlegrean fields. The skyline is dominated by the majestic and still active volcano Vesuvius. This is the perfect spot to take photos of this stunning landmark. Driving down towards the port of Mergellina, travel south towards Mount Vesuvius and the town of Pompeii. Stop for a traditional Italian lunch, and then make your way to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pompeii. Get fast track entry on arrival with your skip-the-line tickets, and then spend the afternoon exploring this once thriving city, frozen in time by layers of volcanic ash in 79 AD. Buried under a layer of pumice stones and ash up to 19 to 23 feet (6 to 7 meters) deep for 17 centuries, Pompeii was able to survive the ravages of time and the destructive effects of climate and heavy weather. Resume your trip through the Roman countryside and enjoy the scenery as you make your way back to the city at a relaxed pace. Arrive in time to enjoy the rest of the night in Rome at your leisure.

Even if the bus travel time is a bit long, it's worth it (especially since we were leaving Rome where on other days we walked 20 km a day, it gave us a little rest). The restaurant serving the pizza is nice, we are at tables of 4-6, it allows us to chat. Guided tour of Pompeii interesting, our guide has a sense of humor. On the other hand, we did a visit to Naples by bus, instead I would have preferred to see the museum where all the objects from Pompeii are because on the site there is almost nothing and the guide only makes us describe them.

Very well organized. Our bus driver Angel took us safely through Naples! brought. Marko gave us a lot of interesting information on the trip and our guides then gave us a lot of knowledge in Pompeii in a nice, entertaining way during the sightseeing. Thanks everyone, it was a successful day

Very punctual driver for our pick up at the hotel, and in a very nice car. Very friendly guide speaking English, Spanish and even a little French. However we only have 2 hours to visit the archaeological site and it is much too short. We had to run a little to see a lot of things, and despite that we could not see everything. We can only fly over the whole and it's a shame.
